I'm not. I have no doubt that FIFA would give Canada the World Cup over us. It just sucks because North America will host soon enough and we looked like the only ones with a chance until Canada threw their name in. At least they'll be beaten like a piñata and we'll still have good fan support.

Really I think if Australia puts in a bid for the next world cup, they'll be awarded it.

Australia's problems are that the WC happens during rugby season (rugby uses the same stadiums) and the TV times would be in the mornings in Europe and the middle of the night in the Americas. The gametimes didn't stop them from playing in Japan, so I guess it's possible.

Wonder if Australia would ask their rugby organizations to go on a break during a World Cup? They may not like it but in return they would likely get some nice upgrades to the stadiums. The start time would really suck I saw an A League game on tv that started at 2am Central time.

Not really, teams would compete in 2 tournaments, one in the winter and one in the summmer. The Winter tourney in qualifying and all the countries in the conference gather for a 4 week qualification tournament for the WC. In Summer we play for keeps.
