What a hideous attacking midfield, that is shocking for Brazil. Who would have thought Brazil would be totally reliant on its defending? What a difference a generation makes.

Is this the first time an MLS player has ever been called up to a top seed World Cup team?
Technically he's a QPR player loaned to an MLS team.

Jefferson was the keeper when we played Brazil in that friendly a couple of years ago when we got beat 4-1. I remember him making a few good saves and that the game could have been a lot closer had he not made those saves.
What ever happened to Pato? I know he picked up a few injuries but he seemed like a promising player with Milan.

And whatever happened to Ganso? He turning into Patô and just can't stay healthy?

tons of talent, but u can attack that back-line successfully.

Too bad for Leandro Castan. He's been better than any Brazilian CB after Thiago Silva this year but really didn't start getting noticed until too late as more focus was on Benatia.
Brazil may not have any attacker among the top 4 or 5 at their positions but I don't see them having any trouble scoring goals this summer.

Knee injuries and some attitude problems

I thought Filipe Luis was Brasilian. Shocked he did not make it (unless he is another nationality). That back four is just ill.

He is, so is Miranda

Surprised Dede didn't make it over Henrique at CB.
Coutinho was a long shot and Lucas Leiva is just not good enough...
Lucas Moura is the biggest omission, but the writing was on the wall... He didn't get enough game time at PSG..
Leandro Damiao is another who has fallen off big time...

I feel like everyone here thinks there are some strange omissions then. I guess that is what happens when you have all that talent.

Can't wait to beat that arse in the final

i could be wrong, but this seems like one of the weaker sides they've sent to a world cup in my lifetime.

I'm really not that impressed with Brazil's squad. I mean it's way better than ours obviously, but player player I don't think they'd make my top 5. And certainly their starting 11 wouldn't. I guess playing home is a big reason their favorites

It's a more talented squad than in 2010, but it still lacks that flair of Brazilian teams outside of Neymar.

Why is Brazil devoid of elite attacking talent? How does this happen?
Posted on 5/7/14 at 1:55 pm to RandySavage
June 12 cannot get here fast enough

I've seen criticisms of Serie A (Brazil) that highlight the hilarious space afforded to some attacking players as something that is detrimental to producing quality attacking players. I don't watch it, so I don't have an opinion, but watching players like Ramires, it makes sense. It also probably doesn't help that most of their elite attacking talent older than like 22 is crazy and/or broken and/or Spanish now.
