Canned Reactions:

Jurgen should drop him.

Mickey Mouse League.

Besler is weak mentally

I don't think any of these things.

That said, it would be nice if our best players tried to play with the world's best.

Besler toiling in the championship or getting drubbed by the BPL on a weekly basis is not exactly ideal either. Sporting KC is doing pretty awesome things. It is cool to retain talent.

Could just be another play on words and speculation similar to Sunderland "making a bid" . He said he wouldn't mind staying with them from the beginning.

I don't think Fulham and Sunderland are the only 2 that were/are interested in him.

Even so, I'd argue a case like Tim Ream's at Bolton shows that playing in the championship doesn't necessarily mean "toiling".

Just came here to post this. The guy who tweeted out works for the KC Star.

Article should be coming soon so look for that too.

He's also a native of Kansas City, so theres something to be said about staying with your hometown team.

seemed like he never wanted to leave in the first place. hes always sounded like he wanted to play until the end in KC.

i have no problem with this. hes not that young and playing for foreign shitshows doesnt exactly sound like alot of fun.

at least at SKC hes a top player for a team competing to win championships. its good to have some guys coming from winning mentalities in the NT mix, even if its from MLS.

hope they give him something close to Omar money though, if they can.

I would like to see him stay in KC.

I really don't think it would elevate his game to play in Europe. Moreover, I like for some of our guys to stay here. He is beloved hometown boy and is a part of that magical connection between the club and its fans.

Said he had offers to fulham and sunderland. American players wanna play in America. I'm surprised he turned down EPL, though.

If he stays, he will go down as an all-time great, leading the record books for SKC. He will be on the same level as George Brett, arguably the most revered man in Kansas City sports.

I can only hope Erik Palmer-Brown feels the same and stays in KC for a while, making a hometown CB pairing for many years, for both club, and possibly country.

I think you are underestimating how much support SKC has here. If Matt Besler stays here for the rest of his career, wins a couple more trophies, plays in the 2018 WC, he could very well be right next to George Brett.

Oh...

wow...

C;mon man, I love Besler but that's just ridiculous. Sure SKC has a damn strong fan base compared to most MLS teams. But I guarantee you that it is still dwarfed by the Royals today.

wut

Him playing in Germany or the EPL would def help his game. We can see how good he really is vs a major step in competition.

Our national team roster and majority of the youth players going overseas says otherwise.

We all love soccer but are you really trying to compare winning the MLS cup to winning the world series. You were not even alive to see him play. shite Im almost 30 and barley was able to see him play as a kid.

To be fair we all just try to pretend the Royals don't exist
