With Clichy, Gibbs, and Boetlho there should be significant competition.

Yeah I have a feeling Traore, Denilson, Arshavin, Rosicky, Almunia, and maybe even Squillaci will all be playing elsewhere next season.
Also, saw on Young Guns that there's rumors of Arsenal interest in Omar Salgado...

That would be excellent, but would also gut our team of experience. Arshavin is still useful, possibly as a super sub, as when he does have incisive passes, they usually result in goals. Its just that he breaks down so many attacking moves with sloppy play.

Also any moves we make in the summer are contingent on what Fabregas does. We have plenty of replacements in the squad, but he's too important to our game right now.

Yeah I do agree with Arshavin. As for the rest, their "experience" has only hurt us this year. With Coquelin, Frimpong, Ramsey, Botelho, et al coming back next year, Traore, Denilson, and Rosicky aren't very useful. Denilson and Rosicky have quite frankly been garbage this year. Selling those 3 + Almunia would give us enough money to purchase Sakho or Hazard.
Sagna accuses Dowd of using improper language plus some good Arshavin quotes.
As for Cesc, surely he stays. We withstood the Barca storm, and he has to be worth more to us now than whatever his hypothetical price was last summer.

His contract runs out in 2014, so we do have quite a bit of leverage. A lot of this depends on how Lansbury, Frimpong, Coquelin, Ramsey, possibly Aneke, Miyachi, Afobe, JET, look when they come back from their clubs. We might as well go with the youth, as most of our youth team players are far more athletic than the players who have been rumored to leave.
Honestly enough, it would have been nice to have Fran Merida in the rotation this year. He had good technique on the ball, as well as a great left foot, though he struggled mightily with positioning deeper in the pitch. Not that I think he will be a star or anything, but he'd definitely would have been a solid squad option, probably better than Rosicky.

I hope to God Squid and Kos can deal with Wolves. We need to take care of them. Hopefully Song is back as well.

It's amazing how important he's become. It might be that he's just so much better than Squillaci and Koscielny, but he makes that much of a difference.

He's a good young talent. I hope we sign Sakho in the summer because those two could lock down the center of the pitch for us for at least the next 6-7 years.

awkward interview with AA23 about his teammates - though his comments on Eboue and Beowulf are nice
Beo's opinion of Jack's ENT potential
“I have my own theories on how Theo was treated by England, but I don’t want to get too much into that because it will probably just get me in trouble.
“But Theo can be a lesson for the way you treat Jack. It’s important to take it easy and realise he is a kid. He’s still young, even though he seems very mature and seems like he has played a long time.
“Young players are always put under a lot of pressure very early in England. You always throw players around really quickly. Jack has got potential, he is a grounded lad and can be a great, great player for England.”
I agree with him. Hope to God he doesn't succumb to the expectational frenzy. Also I still think he's far off the mark from being a complete box to box middie. Often his influence wanes in the second half against physical sides. In that regard I fear he is unfairly being looked to be some savior figure. Capello better coddle him properly.

This is a man who should nurture young Jack's career.

I think Jack is an exceptional talent, but would he even be starting if Gerrard wasn't ruled out?
That being said, in a 4-4-2, he would probably be better suited in central midfield w/Gerrard, than Lamps...

I don't think you have to worry about Cesc to be honest. The club VP came out and said that we won't be paying the 60 mil that would probably be offered. The previous president made some stupid deals *cough* Zlatan *cough*, I don't see this group doing the same thing.

if it was a game that mattered, probably not. after all, int'l friendlies are a time for experimentation, not necessarily sober, serious attempts at victory. capello stated ahead of time that JW would start or see significant time. but in terms of the next world cup I suspect Jack will be starting over both Lampard and Gerrard.
