Breaking news!!

@Arsenal have put in a strong bid for @headdturnerr from the @NERevolution today. What a great opportunity for both the player & franchise to further enhance their brand. What a great time to be a #NERevs supporter. #MLS

Yeah. He needs to be more than a "cup keeper". I'd love it, but it isn't the right move for him.

Arsenal have submitted an offer to New England Revolution for goalkeeper Matt Turner. A source with knowledge of the discussions added that the proposed transfer fee is comparable to the £5.5m (potentially reaching £7.3m) Manchester City paid for Zach Steffen in 2019.

If a deal is consummated, Arsenal anticipates Turner having a ‘significant role’ with the club, a key factor ahead of the current New England keeper’s expected participation in the 2022 World Cup. [@ESPNFC] #afc

Because ramsdale is the best keeper we’ve had since lehman. And we just paid 20+ for him or whatever.

I'm 100% down with this as an Arsenal fan. Let's us get rid of Bernd and his wages and bring in Turner on like a third of what Leno makes.

I'd be happy as a USMNT fan as well because I think GK is the one position where even if you don't play a ton, you can still make a difference when getting called up.

Not sure how to feel about this.

I don't like that TT mentions branding, like they are valuing him more as a token American mascot and not as a good GK.

Agreed. Great signing as an Arsenal fan but not ideal as a USMNT fan.

I would support this as an Arsenal fan as he would be a fantastic backup option to our 32 million pound keeper…

That said as a USMNT fan I want our (possibly starting) keeper to be in form and playing regularly in the year leading up to a World Cup.

Is training with Arsenal better than live reps in the MLS? Will he get superior training in Arsenal to make up for the lack of game reps? Good career move but not great for the USMNT.

Arsenal, USMNT keeper Matt Turner agree to terms - sources

quote:

Twellman added that Turner will join the Gunners in the summer, allowing him to remain with the Revs for the start of the 2022 MLS regular season. It will also keep travel to a minimum for Turner for the remainder of World Cup qualifying.

As much as I'd like to see him get more playing time before the WC, I'm happy for the guy making the move to the best league in the world.

Yea but he won’t play in the league

With the future England #1 in front of him

This is dumb both our keepers are essentially league cup keepers

Keepers need reps to keep and gain form
