Since it's been so quiet can we go ahead and assume that an absolutely MASSIVE signing is to take place in the next 2 hours?

Yossi on twitter just confirmed he's staying in London, which means either Spurs or Arsenal(most likely)
Also, complete rumor, but is anyone familiar with Renato Augusto from Bayern Leverkusen? He's been linked as our AM target now.

Are we going to assume anything, at this point, given Arsenal's history? Quit puffing us up for a massive disappointment :-/

Someone connected to London football reports this:
and minutes later this is reported:
Pretty odd, since Yossi said his move to Arsenal was dependent on if Arteta went there or not, and that now it's reported Yossi's deal is done just negotiating personal expenses...

Got to be careful what i say but something other than yossi MAY still happen for arsenal. No better than 50-50 at mo though

Same connected guy now says he believes Arteta is definitely going to happen
and now this is reported:

Bid accepted for Arteta, is what I'm hearing. Our good friend Jamie Sanderson says he wants £90k a week.

Upgrade from what? Arsenal is better off now (with Yossi) than they were last week. If that's what you mean?
He's a good player.

Certainly a depth upgrade. Not in the top XI, but good bench option.
Mertesacker, Young, Santos, Arteta, Benayoun. All solid, helpful players but outside of possibly Mertesacker, no big game changers. Still, I'm fairly pleased. We do still have money to go out and get an impact name in January. Seems like there's always a big name that pops up at the time and we'll be in a good position to bag him.

He will give us options centrally, and most importantly, he's a body that we didn't have last week. It's a solid move.

I'd say they were very solid players. They have lots of experience, they all have good technical qualities, and they all are play positions we desperately need bodies at.
Mertesacker is an excellent bit of business. Young could be awesome. Santos is an experienced LB which is more to say of the options we had currently. Arteta can play the DLP and allow Wilshere to move further up the pitch. Benayoun can come off the bench and provide an attack spark that's been missing from Rosicky and Arshavin. I'm very pleased with this window, and I"m pleased with the way the club has reacted to getting destroyed by Man U.
Most of all the depth this provides can help us out tremendously.

Arsenal loses Cesc Fabregas but then picks up Mikel Arteta. Total number of handsome Spaniards lost = zero

Arteta also gives us a really good set piece taker.

Nicklas loan to Sunderland is comfirmed by Arsenal.

Impressed with Arsenal's window...especially that it was basically done in three days. Nice job Gooners.
That being said...I'm looking to give you hell when you visit Anfield.

He also gives us a player who has no chance of being hurt during international breaks.
So what's our best XI now?

As long as Arshavin and Rosicky are nowhere near it.
I figure it will be something like this:
Sagna-Mertesacker-TV5-Santos/Gibbs
Song-Arteta
Wilshere
Walcott-RVP-Gervinho

Much more respectable than a couple of days ago.

*Arteta piddles up to RvP during a game*
HeeeEeEeEEeeyyy buddy *arm takes an exaggerated, slow arc to give RvP a friendly lug on the shoulder*
How about we-- heh, I dunno-- why don't I take that free kick.
