Just hard to believe there isn't a better deal out there.
There's no one we could realistically get this close to the end of the window. Deep lying midfielders are valuable, and usually can play well into their 30s. If he gives us 3 years, it'll be fine.

BBC guy reporting we got Benayoun too. He and Arteta would certainly help give us quality depth which we sorely lack.

transfer war chest
haha is that even an option? I got tired of supporting fulham and my roomates is an arsenal fan so i've been keeping up with the gunners for a bit. Walcott needs someone to feed him which i think Dempsey would be great for with his versatility. I just hope Arsenal makes a move in the midfield

Of course. It's where the money for the Gervinho and the Oxlade-Chamberlain signings has come from. Any money left over from this transfer window, and any money raised from the sale of the Highbury apts. goes into this fund.

I've been holding out on saying this, but Dempsey simply isn't good enough to help us claw back to being a top 4 side and trophy contender. I'd be a smidge disappointed if we picked him up, and only happy for the novelty of seeing an American on our side.

Dempsey would be the only guy besides RVP and maybe Gervinho capable of scoring 10 goals

Meh, I don't see it. He did it one year at Fulham, a side with not many players who bear a significant goal scoring responsbility. With guys like Theo, RvP, Gervinho, and maybe Jack, he would have to make the most of his few chances to equal or best his season high tally.

Imagine if Dempsey had Arsenal's service. He scored 12 (13?) goals last season at FULHAM. Come on. He would easily surpass that at Arsenal.

Of the guys you just listed, only RVP possesses the finishing ability of Dempsey. You're being a Eurotard right now.

I dunno. Theo had double digit goals for us in all comps. Gervinho can hopefully score. If Chamakh ever regains his form he can score ten plus. Dempsey's a great option in the air, but I'm not sure if he would fit into what we are trying to play. He's not exactly a distributor, not a winger, not a striker. He doesn't do defensive work and would basically play behind a striker. Wenger has always played someone there who could move the ball quickly. Dempsey isn't exactly known for his passing. I'd take him as a squad player though. Arshavin is past it, and Dempsey's versatility would be useful.

Naw, just bein' a reality-tard.
The only Americans I'd take right now would be Donovan and Howard.

Seeing a bunch of rumors from many different sources that Arteta deal is off.
Looks like Benayoun would be the final transfer we are linked with.

If his price is any more than 10 million, we should call it off. Absolutely retarded to pay any more than that for a good PL player with no international experience.

Sources in Israel now reporting Yossi has agreed to a 1 year deal.
Def not near my first choice but he is a step up from what we currently have as a creative linking midfielder.

Yossi deal is supposedly a loan.

Apparently Everton asked for 15+
Pretty ballsy and dumb move by them, they are in a position where they need to sell, but tried to work a desperate Arsenal side late in the game for all they could.

If the Benayoun deal comes to fruition, we would have six international captains:
Park Chu-Young - South Korea
Andrei Arshavin - Russia
Thomas Vermaelen - Belgium
Yossi Benayoun - Israel
Tomas Rosicky - Czech Republic
Marouane Chamakh - Morocco

You're forgetting the Basque football team.
But in all seriousness, I wouldn't hold this against him. He was born during the wrong period of time.

Iv heard we could be using benayoon for leverage. Ill take both and call it a day. We let something like 14 players go, and we may still may see more leave.

And Per who was Werder Bremen's captain.
