We now have really quality depth.

It's a side that can compete for the top four depending on how well Gervinho, Walcott and Wilshere do, as well as injuries.

So what now becomes of Rosicky, and Arshavin? We have brought in players at their positions and hopefully their minutes will decline and they will now become the substitutes? Is that wishful thinking or it will happen, just down the line?

How about we-- heh, I dunno-- why don't I take that free kick.

J.Y. Park is actually a set piece specialist. RvP rarely gets a FK on target anymore.

Speaking of Robin, I'm not sure he's the best captain. I'd much prefer it if it was TV5. It's hard for a striker to be captain. TV5 is a much more natural leader.

They will still play, but hopefully not every game. I hope they can still be effective, and they are definitely good options off the bench due to their experience.

applying positive racism to Park, I assume he has some sort of mathematical superiority to his FKs, some hybrid of physics and geometry, instilled into him by his overbearing, settles-for-nothing-but-the-best father and tiger-mother.

Apparently he has a very high IQ. I hope he doesn't have to go back to do his military training, if he's good.

It has been reported that he has an IQ of 150. So your logical racism applies.

Being reported we got him for 10 million pounds on a 4 year deal. Another fairly good piece of business. A tad high, but still respectable.

I am so relieved after today. We have added quality depth and addressed big areas of need.

We signed veteran players who can add grit and composure to our young side as well as great leadership since many have had the captaincy at one point or another for club and country.

Mert paired with Verm now makes us no longer the weak inept aerial defense we have been for years on set plays and crosses. Which is huge, I can't tell you how many goals were scored on us last season from the above situations.

As many have mentioned we now have some clinical finishers/distributors from set kicks. Them paired with Mert and Verm we can now have aerial threats on set plays.

The look of this squad has changed a great deal from just the addition of a few players.

Also, lost in all this is that we successfully loaned out Beowulf.

I wonder who Meireles was in contact with, because he put in a transfer request a half hour before the deadline...

And we still came out about 30 million dollars in the green in case we need to get a marquee signing in January.

If both us and Lille are out of the UCL maybe January would be an opportune time to get Hazard.

How much was spent in this window? 50M?

I am excited to see the new Arsenal. I want them to succeed. Please knock Chelsea out of the top 4.

Would it shock that Oxalde-Chamberlain was our most expensive?

He was.

Depending on how you want to look at it, we still have around 30M of the Cesc/Nasri money left. Gervinho and AOC were bought with the transfer war chest before the sale of Cesc/Nasri.

Overall, we spent 50M and made 70M. Solid business.

Yep. I think we are going to target a big name in January and shatter the club's record transfer.

Hazard would be excellent. We need something else, that is obvious, but maybe these players can perform immediately at a high level.

I haven't been this satisfied with an Arsenal transfer deadline day, since we landed Arshavin in the blizzard of 2009/

I'm very happy right now. We still are lacking top quality which we need to address in winter/next summer, but we have quality and depth in the squad now and can realistically compete for the top 4. We aren't competing for the title right now, but add a top player in the next two windows and we can be.

I would have been beyond bummed if we didn't get Arteta or any of the other discussed targets. We can at least stay afloat until January now. Best we could do in the limited time we had, granted it is no one's fault but ours for the limited time.
