So what's your take on Joao Pedro kicking the ball 3 seconds after the whistle 50 yards and not getting shite?
think that should been a yellow as well
but if i’m rice and i have a yellow already im not going to do anything that might jeopardize another yellow.
he left it in the refs hands and unfortunately today this ref was inconsistent

The good news is we didn't lose. Brighton is good. They will take points from Liverpool and City maybe this year.
I get the mass panic from our fans but you'd think this was the final day of the season.
In the words of Nick Saban:
Settle the frick down.
35 games to go. Plus we get Sterling and Merino soon

Yeah, you take the result given the circumstances. We really had a chance to walk away with 3 points down a man to a good team.
If Arsenal get through this first part of the season win only 2-4 points dropped with the injuries, schedule, and the Rice red card. They will be set to make another run at the title.

Also - I don’t want Trossard as a starter

Likely will see Havertz back in midfield for NLD

Champs schedule is out.
Kinda got the shaft. Forces us into 2 separate instances of 3 away games
9/19: Atalanta (A)
10/1: PSG (H)
10/22: shakhtar (H)
11/6: Inter (A)
11/26: Sporting (A)
12/11: Monaco (H)
1/22: Dinamo (H)
1/29: Girona (A)
We’ve got NLD, Atalanta, City all away in the same week
Then we’ve got Newcastle, Inter, Chelsea all away in the same week
Real chance we lose points in 3 of the away PL games

Yeah we aren't taking 12 of 12 in those away games to Spurs, City, Newcastle, and Chelsea. If we do we win the league

I've had this creeping thought that there is a chance Sterling starts at LW in big games this year. I'm curious. Martinelli and Trossard both struggle starting but tbf Trossard had some great directness today.
I just love him off the bench against physically and mentally tired defenses

Probably a good bet on Sterling winning a spot.
I’m still in favor of starting Gabby on the left and wearing down RBs for Trossard or Sterling to come in and cause Havoc

Honestly didn’t see it. I can speculate and say this- was Arsenal trying to take a free kick quickly and he kicked the ball away? Context matters here. In an amateur match, that is cautioned every time. Pros get away with more due to so many extra balls pitchside. It doesn’t truly “delay the restart” the way it does in an amateur match.
BUT, Rice knows he’s on a yellow and kicks the ball away milliseconds before the opponent takes a free kick? That’s getting cautioned on every level every single instance. He actively delayed the restart.

The real problem is he didn’t give a card to Brighton for delaying a restart 2 times prior. So he set the expectation that he’s not giving a card for that. It was a foul in the corner of their half. He didn’t prevent anything that would have created an immediate advantage.
Look, Rice needs to be smarter there, but to act like that was worthy of a red is a joke. The ref wanted to play dictator there, and feel important.
Just be consistent. If you give a yellow for that, then do it for each offense. This is the same ref that complained that Arsenal celebrated too much for the Bournemouth stoppage time goal.
It happened, was harsh. On to the next.

About right

Was at the beach for Labor Day watching the game. That ref should be in PRISON!
If you are truly going to take the game and ref it to the letter of the law then Pedro should've had a yellow in the first half for kicking the ball away, and in the instance where Rice got his second yellow, the ball was still moving after the Brighton player tossed the ball 7 more feet in front of him to kick it!?
I mean he literally decided in the 49th minute of the game to ruin it for Arsenal. Pure insanity. Chris Kavanaugh is from Manchester and he belongs in prison.

Another one of these refs in all sports who want to insert themselves into the game because they think people are there to see them.

Disagree with Halsey. Brighton player hadn’t struck the ball so the kick hadn’t been taken. I can run up to kick a rolling ball all I want and until I kick it it’s not in play and the restart can be delayed.
Having seen the Pedro incident, he should have been cautioned. Referee is consistently inconsistent.

He literally tapped the ball into Rice’s leg when he was walking away and not looking. Rice looks down and taps it 1 foot away while the player wildly swings his leg knowing the ball wasn’t stopped. Totally egregious call.

It was awful. I still have issues with the no penalty on Dunk from White's shot. The ball was going in the corner(obviously on target)and it plainly hits his arm. That's given more than 85% of the time.

Odegaard goes off injured with an ankle sprain vs Austria. No bueno and could be without our 3 preferred midfielders for the NLD this weekend .
Posted on 9/11/24 at 8:11 am to WhoDatNC
He injured the same ankle playing for Norway that sidelined him during his loan spell here.

With Arsenal playing every three days, Odegaard could miss seven matches in the run-up to the October Interlull.
That includes three upcoming away games with Sp*rs, Atalanta and Manchester City, the Carabao Cup clash with Bolton, two home league matches with Leicester and Southampton and PSG’s visit to the Emirates. Realistically, we won’t see him in action again until the trip to Bournemouth on 19 October.
