Another great performance…. Nice way to start the weekend
quote:Reiss Nelson is also back on the bench so hopefully he’s given lots of those Europa league minutes as well.
Got to just let Marquinhos play all the Europa games.

Finally a time where we have real quality everywhere on the pitch and depth on the bench. Arteta has been masterful in managing and setting this team up. The mentality and grit is refreshing after years of being soft.

We have depth at every spot. And all in their prime. We can win the league.

if this team is able to get a point against liverpool they’ll make a believer out of me
there really is no excuse with how liverpool has looked this early in the season

We have been the best team in the league so far and deserve to be top.

3 goals, really a shut out in field play, a questionable red card against them for a change, Xhaka actually playing incredibly well for 95% of the game, being a leader, first place, controlling the game, it can’t get much better than that. (other than not seeing my boy ESR put a dagger in the street chickens)
Just keep it up boys. I honestly don’t think we are going to win it all, but who knows. However, this team has champions league written all over it.

Looonnggg day, 6:30 am kickoff for the NLD and 11am kickoff for the Rebs. Thankfully I got to watch all of the Arsenal game before heading to ox, I gotta say I’m so damn happy watching this team. The Xhaka redemption has been so amazing, and I’m ngl I feel vindicated by sticking by him for all these years
I just hope they can all keep this up for the rest of the season.
Into October and the quadruple still looks possible

There is nothing more insufferable than an Arsenal supporter.

Honestly Xhaka always looked better when he had a competent supporting cast. But when he had a partner who made him do too much he overextended himself. That no.8 role he's playing might be his best position.

Great way to start October off with a Derby win and staying Top of the League. Not sure if yall have checked out the schedule for the rest of this month.
Tired legs are an understatement. We have two games every week for the rest of the month.
Thursday and then Sunday every single week. Our bench players better be prepared. They are going to have to give us serious minutes in the Europa League so our starters can get some rest.
I would run those players who are not going to the World Cup as much as possible. They get a nice break for a little because of the World Cup.

I bet it will be like a week or two break max and the club will schedule friendlies during the break.

Returned to the US from London last night, and I’m still on a high from the North London Derby.
It was the best sporting event I’ve ever attended, and I’ve been to countless LSU football, home and away, national titles, NFL games galore, crazy basketball environments across the country, etc. And nothing prepared me for what I witnessed in the concourses before the game.
What started out (with about an hour to go before kickoff) as about a dozen kids in their early 20s jumping up and down, singing and chanting various songs turned into thousands of people jumping up and down, screaming and singing, jumping, throwing beers in the air…
“WE WON THE LEAGUE! AT SHART HART LANE!
Then to the music of “when the Saints go marching in: “We won the league at Shart Hart Lane. We won the league at the shite hole, we won the league at shart hart lane!”
And of course: “What do we think of Tottenham?” (Sometimes led by litttle kids, lol)
“shite!”
“What do we think of think of shite?”
“TOTTENHAM!”
“Thank you!”
“That’s all right. We hate Tottenham, we hate Tottenham…” and on and on.
Coming to a crescendo of maxed-out volume of voices in unison until about 5-10 min before the kick when we all poured into the stand without losing any momentum or noise.
We continued singing and chanting throughout, with the only brief pause at the penalty. But immediately later, we began our Arsenal chants once again, trying to show the boys we’re still here and also hoping to drown out the Tottenham fans to my right.
Which brings me to that part. It was always hard for me to understand the hooliganism in English football. I mean, I tailgate with people from the opposing team before LSU games, and we may do a bit of fun rubbing, it’s all in a good nature and we can have a beer together. Even during games, I was nearly hugging the FSU fan next to me in New Orleans earlier this year as we both experienced that crazy finish.
But over there, it’s different. The energy level, the way the fans go after each other, leaning up against the security guards to talk shite. And let’s be honest, the shite talk over there is clever and creative and hits harder. They take it to a different level. We also say shite like “frick you! Bama sucks! Or STTDB!”
The shite they sing and chant at the opposing team and fans stings. It would, very naturally, cause fighting.
We sat in the clock end behind the goal. The second row in the uppers (block 124). The seats were great. Thanks to Bottom9 for your advice earlier in choosing a good spot. Sitting behind goal really allows you to see the field better, I think, and the fans are wild, too.
The fans around us were incredible, and relentless in their pursuit of insulting and chiding Tottenham fans… even though we were above them and a few sections over.
After the match, the chanting and singing continued all throughout the neighborhood. We walked over to Gunners pub, threw back a few pints, met a bunch of people. Then had dinner across the street at a charming Italian restaurant all filled with gooners, some of whom we traded contact info and they offered their tickets to us (for free!) the next time we could make it.
The two friends who came with me weren’t soccer fans before this. They just wanted to come along. They are now hooked and lifelong Arsenal fans. The 3-1 victory was just lagniappe!
I still can’t get the songs out of my head. It was an incredible experience and certainly won’t be my last.
TLDR: The North London Derby was the best sporting event I’ve ever attended. And I can’t wait to go back!

That sounds like an incredible experience. I was waiting for us to qualify for the Champions league and then plan a trip but I may not be able to wait until next season.

I'm so jealous!
My wife and I originally wanted to go to London this past weekend for my birthday, but decided to do it back in May since we could 100% see a game at Emirates.
Terrible decision in hindsight since NLD was at home and the Saints played in London

I’m going to sound like an idiot, but how do I post pics in here??? Lol. I took more videos than pics but have a ton of pics and I’d love to share. It was surreal.

It was also the London marathon. The whole city had a fun, festive vibe with street closures and people just pouring out of every pub in and around central London.
We saw Who Dats all over the place. Enjoyed some pints in the Saints pub. Decided not to go to the Saints game and watched it at different pubs around the city, settling down in a pub in China town (O’Neil’s) where I spent a lot of time in grad school.
So you definitely missed out on a great weekend! But all the more reason and encouragement to plan a trip soon!
