ESR is a starting level player in my book but he just seems to thrive coming off the bench

Agree with this. Felt like when Spain would bring in Fabregas off the bench during their successful run. Also want to give Eddie some big props. He came on and really dropped back into some key spots to break the press late. Not afraid to take guys on and almost got him a goal

These guys have very few minutes this year and Arteta is going to let them play a ton of minutes in the group stage, the majority of the minutes, because they’re good enough to win those games and give our starters a rest.

You have alot more faith in this group than me. I like ESR, and admittedly have not seen Viera or Marquinhos play, but the rest really dont impress me as group (getting out of the press with the ball at their feet for one). Guess it all depends on who the other starters are.

With 5 games in September and 9 in October (death row) theres plenty of minutes to be shared.

Why did they push it back? I’ve been thinking today was deadline day.

The midweek games.

Looks like we might try to sign Luiz and hector to Barca?

Bellerin to Barca on a free transfer but it’s not a contract termination. So we don’t owe any additional wages and there’s evidently a sell on clause

Bellerin was a beast for the club for so many years. Glad it ended in a peaceful and respectful way.

Auba joining Chelsea. Full snake mode.

Joins the list of former Arsenal players to Chelsea sadly:

Cesc Fabregas
Ashley Cole
Olivier Girourd
Aubameyang

Also side note.

Ainsley-Maintland Niles should be going out soon as well.

Amazing what they did this transfer window with exiting players who needed to get out for a while.

I’m going to be surprised if we can’t get this Luiz deal done. He’s got less than a year left on his contract.

Also looks like Melo is going to Liverpool on loan. I know Liverpool were interested in Luiz so seems like Arsenal is his best bet.

Arsenal will save €9m in annual wages through Héctor Bellerín’s move to Barcelona on a free transfer. The player accepted a reduced salary on a one-year deal.

2nd Luiz bid at 23million plus add ons has been rejected. I assume they will go for one more final bid.

Still makes me sad/upset to see Arsenal getting rid of their players for free or super low price.

Heck Barca are getting money and Alonso in return for Auba, who Arsenal let go for free. Granted that locker room situation was cancerous.

I think Arsenal learned from their mistake and are including a sell-on clause in Bellerin's free transfer. But, I agree that Auba had to go.

Villa wouldn't let Douglas Luiz go, so that's a wrap on the summer transfers.

Had a really good start to the season but this could be a difficult Fall ahead of the WC and January transfer window

I am currently picturing Edu leaning over a table in the conference room, stressed, asking one last time if he can increase the bid to shore up the midfield

Joah Kroenke standing there by the window stroking his goatee, shaking his head and staring out the window with feigned sympathy

As good as the window has been, it’s incredibly frustrating they couldnt get any deal done today. We are dangerously thin in the midfield and most of the youngsters that could play there for Europa are already out on loan (Patino, Azeez).

This kind of stings a bit.

If we start losing games because our midfield is out injured this is going to suck.

And I’m going to be more pissed if Xhaka gets forced into a dm role and gets a red card.

What a weird day. Aston Villa got a replacement for Luiz but were willing to keep Luiz on his last year for some reason? We send out Azeez on loan, and don't finish the deal for Luiz? None of this makes any sense. My god I don't know how we are going to survive October.

So let's hope Ben White can play DM if need be, but this midfield is one injury away from a complete crisis. Hopefully we have some random arse wonderkids hiding away in the academy.

Maybe viera is the next coming? Although I see him being a more advanced player or even on the wing not someone who could come in and do partey or elneny role.
