I swear twice their fricking keeper handled the ball outside the box

The one played by Ozil to Ox looked like it.

I think the bigger question (at least for this Arsenal thread) is why our offensive players were so clumsy in our own box. Both events were penalties, and neither were situations where Suarez was even really threatening. They were just really stupid plays on Poldi and Ox.

I did like the description someone else had in the FA Cup thread that Suarez flopped around on the ground like a Magikarp. I just don't understand the need to act like you were shot when it is a clear penalty. Let's say he was actually injured due to the collision, would he have really used his upper body to launch himself off the ground due to the sheer pain?

To be fair to Webb, that was a highly difficult game to officiate.

That said, he sucked. He let Sterling put his hands on him and did nothing, although he handled it pretty humorously.

his hold up play and link up play really shocked me today.

Got better as game went on. Obviously he's not on girouds level with the flicks around the box but that will come with game time. I like that he's tall and lean and was much stringer in the air than I could have imagined.

I watched the game with my girl and she busted out laughing cus she said that Suarez dude flopped like a fish. After the match Arsene said he looked as if he'd been shot. I'm thinking web calls it if Suarez doesn't embellish.

I rewound it a few times. His face just looked like he was thinking "Did this mother fricker just put his hand on me?"

After seeing the way Sterling flails his arms when he runs, I'm kind of surprised that Webb even felt it.

I was screaming early in the game, he was in the air outside the box when he punted it. Was pretty clear to me.

That had me cracking up. Was really an entertaining match all around. Also bringing Gibbs in was brilliant. Pretty much forced sterling to stay back on d. He had a few tackles that probably saved goals as Gibbs was getting into the box. It might have been sterling but at the end we were coming down the rt and sterling caught Gibbs shirt by.the collar and pulled him back. If not Gibbs was wide open running down the left. Of course no one sees it though.

One of yous keeps bashing Lukas. I don't get it. Every time he plays, he produces something. He worked his arse off yesterday closing down space and tracking back, and his run and finish for the second goal was superb. He and Ozil work well together.

i will cop to that (though others have done it too). I tweeted after his goal that it was his best all around contribution in awhile. then he went and gave up the PK

whenever he starts his movement is generally so terrible and he defends poorly. he'll do shite like sit and wait to play 1-2s 40 yards from the goal before moving. he frequently fails to run in behind as well. he's our best goalscorer atm (he and theo are probably the best on the team) but the rest of his game is generally extremely subpar. yesterday, he put in a shift defensively and linked up well and made good runs. if he contributes like that i have no problem with him starting more often.

Thought this was the best Arteta/Flamini looked together

yeah for sure. it's not ideal, but the defensive solidity was important. we countered a lot better than we have with that midfield pivot. ozil and the ox were key to that improvement.

- Nothing to say about Fabianski but Man of the Match performance out of a backup keeper.

he's been fantastic this year. someone will be getting a good keeper on a free this summer. kinda funny that Arsene has turned out to be right on all three of Szcz, Fabianski and Mannone (who's killing it for Sunderland). didn't look like that was going to be the case a few years ago

yep. would have been heartbreaking to draw or lose on two PKs where there wasn't any danger.

also, how did santi not realize how much time he had on his chance? he could have taken it down, brewed and drank a cuppa, and dribbled past Jones into the back of the net. instead he volleyed it. oh well.

No shite. I couldn't believe he didn't settle the ball. Really fun match to watch. Bring on Bayern. Not really.

I don't get the hate for poldi either. He doesn't get much pt and other guys like Theo walcott are notorious for disappearing for matches on end.

btw, Giroud cheated on his wife with a glamour model who he brought back to the team hotel before the Crystal Palace match. i'm still not sure if they hooked up before the 'Pool league match or not as was rumored, but Oli is gonna face a hefty fine from the club for breaking the strict team hotel rules.

Podolski might be a better finisher than Walcott, but walcotts pace and ability to run behind th defense provides much of a threat

Anyone know where I can find a replay of the game? I want to make a gif of Giroud rubbing his junk before coming on at the 87th minute.

Do you need some sort of subscription for that?

And yeah, that would be awesome. I also wanted to take screen shots first of Fabs getting his shoe tied by Sturridge and then a second pic where at the end of the game with Studge on the ground he leans over and pats him on the back. Put it with a clever caption and that's internet gold, I tell you.

ETA: Funny? Sad? You decide. I'm not sure what Giroud's wife looks like, but he can probably do better than a glamor model with fake tits.
