First off, the better team won. You should have won in November and you took care of business. Saban out-coached Miles, your players played better, etc.

What do you think of Miles right now? IMO the loss is 100% on Miles for sticking w/ JJ. Forget Lee, Mettenberger was an option as well. If Gilbert Grape for Texas had them in the game in the 4th 2 yrs ago, Mett could have done just as well(Not saying we would have won).

I thought our defense played outstanding, not allowing a TD until the game was clearly in hand by Bama.

You're the most balanced team and would have beaten any other team.

Miles and LSU are favorites to win it all next season, so I'll say if they can do that without any question that they BEAT every team they played, Miles will be a Top 15 Coach of all time, if he sticks around though for another few years he could move into the top ten. Saban may have moved into the Top 5 tonight.

Watching him post game, I think he is a class act.

As bad as Lee has been against Bama, I'm not sure he was wrong in sticking with Jefferson, but I personally would have made the switch anyway.

That being said, my next game as a cfb head coach will be my first....

In years past, Bama has had sucky qbs, now they have two viable ones. But when we had a roster full of mediocre ones, bringing in the backup, regardless of any prior playing time, didn't work out too well either.

As dominant as it seemed we were being, y'all were actually only a couple of plays away from tying the game. Thats why I was so surprised that Lee never got a shot. After we missed the FG with six minutes to go in the third, I was CERTAIN Lee would come in.
In the Nov 5th game I was pissed at Saban for trying the FGs instead of punting and playing field position.
In this game I'd have to question Miles' and his QB selection.

Not a Bama fan, but you nailed it pretty good. Not only was JJ playing poorly, but he was a terrible leader. Quite frankly he always has been. Yes Les let the team down tonight by not trying something, anything different for 4 quarters.

I still think Lee had to have been suspended or ineligible or something.

Weren't there some rumblings about him not going to class?

Miles may be goofy, but the man isn't stupid. I have to believe there is a real reason other than loyalty or stubbornness in keeping JJ in.

That or he has naked pictures of Miles with a farm animal.

I like Miles. I always have and I always will.

I honestly don't think Lee could have done much better, but he should have gotten the opportunity to try.

There has to be a reason he didn't play Lee. Is Lee academically eligible? Did he get busted with an eight ball and a tranny last night after curfew?

I like Miles. LSU should make another title run next year. If we didn't have Saban, I'd take Miles in a heartbeat.

JLee doesn't play well against Bama.

Les is a fine coach and I have had the occasion to speak to him on a few occasions when he first came to lSU and always thought he was a great guy. Regardless of the outcome of this game to not put Lee in with four minutes left and no chance of winning and not letting him play his last year after all he endured was disgusting. I have never bashed Miles but that was trashy and I can't stomach the endless threads about how great a guy he is any more.

He played in Atlanta, victory snap. That was a slap in the face.

OP, it's just another "wtf" moment from miles. The second half play calling and leaving JJ in is beyond crazy.

Les seems like a classy guy I think he should filter some of it over to some of his players though. I think Bama just had LSU's # tonight with a great game plan. I thought JJ was overrated and not sure why he was veiwed better than AJ by all the so called experts. I think JJ makes LSU a one dimensional offense.

I would have probably made the switch, simply searching for ANY port in a storm.

That being said, however, Miles had a very good point. 'Bama's pass rush was lights out. With Lee's relative lack of mobility and Mett's status as the future, an injury to Lee would have been horrible and an injury to Mett would have been catastrophic.

I think Les realized that there were simply no good choices left. I feel for the guy, because I honestly like and respect him.

Whether or not to play Lee is a tough question.

First of all, I don't know what kind of chance LSU really had after halftime, but Alabama has owned Lee. His record...seven INTs, including a pick six, with only one TD...speaks for itself. No way was Lee going to bring LSU back. If you still had a chance, it was with Jefferson.

So, do you send him out there to mop up after the game is over? Would that be offensive to Lee?

Your defense did play well...about as well as possible considering that your offense couldn't stay on the field. You obviously decided that Trent wasn't going to beat you; you were going to make McCarron beat you. And he did. You did a great job of shutting Trent down until his TD run, and by then your D was just gassed.

I respect the opinion but I disagree. It's the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. You do what you have to do to win.

Bear in mind that it's simply a good point. I agree that you have to do what you have to do.

All I'm saying is that if that was his rationale, I can see where he was coming from.

According to Smart, Miles tried to do too much. Apparently, what you guys ran tonight looked nothing like what Alabama was expecting. You totally abandoned what worked for you this year. You didn't throw vertical. You didn't challenge the middle of the line. You kept trying to work the edges. At no other time during the season did you do these things to the extent you did tonight.

the only think I remember from lsu offensively was running/passing sideways...
I found a picture of LSU's offensive playbook

the worst part of the game is that I just don't understand why the coaches did what they did... it didn't make sense...

You should have won in November

hold on right there. Bama dominating LSU in January means nothing when it comes to the November game. LSU went to Bama and beat the National Champions on their home field.

LSU deserved to win in November. Special teams is a part of football. And, LSU's special teams was enough to win that game.

LSU was better in November and deserved to win.
Bama was a lot better in January and deserved to win.
