New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani kicked off his plan to “fix” the city’s affordability crisis with his official housing policy agenda, titled “Block by Block,” under which one of the first priorities is to allow the government to seize property from owners deemed “negligent” and redistribute it to so-called “responsible stewards,” a category that includes anyone from land trusts, nonprofits, or even tenants themselves.
against socialism and Mamdani completely, but there are thousands and thousands of empty apartments in NYC that are owned by foreign nationals and that just make everything more expensive.
sometimes being a populist or American First requires you to not look at everything as pure free market capitalism as best for the masses.

I'm against it generally, but if you're going to do it, why not auction it off to real estate outfits with a proven record of providing and maintaining rental units in the same geographic area?
Oh wait, that wouldn't be Communism, now, would it?

Do you know how and when third party transfer was first brought to the NYC government?

Do they define “deemed negligent”?
That sounds dangerously ambiguous.
But I’m sure communists would never use that to steal property from “dissidents”

On the surface you’d think this would be taking away decrepit properties from the poor and giving them to the more wealthy who can afford the upkeep.
But somehow I bet the “negligent owners” will be the wealthy and they’ll give good real estate to the dregs of society who can’t or won’t keep it up and the city will turn to absolute shite

I'm curious why no pictures/videos are shown of Cuba and other Communist nations, prior to elections.
It''s as if they aren't serious about keeping our nation free of communism.
