What are your thoughts on Social Security? Do you anticipate it will continue to be a reliable source of retirement income in the future? And how is it affected under this current administration?

sure, if we make Congress give back what they stole, an IOU that was never going to be paid back is theft

Ukraine, illegals, welfare, other countries, we always seem to have money for them.

I want to leave it and take my money with me.

I fully expect social security to end the day before I turn 68

I was saying that 45 years ago

I wish it were elective and I could choose. It’s theft and a scam. And misused. Those who don’t pay into it shouldn’t get it.

Literal drop in the bucket compared to SS spending/issues.

It is not.

I’ve assumed it wouldn’t pay me anything since 1993.

Why wait until you are 68?

SFP, I saw you mentioned Caleb Hammer the other day, and I've been checking out some of his videos lately and really like him so far. Do you know what his political leanings are?

They'll MASSIVELY raise taxes before they'll let Social Security die. Anything less would ensure losses in every election.
My personal solution would be to phase it out. People in their 60's would get what was promised. People in their 50's would get some, but less. 40's would get little, etc. Those in their 20's would be required to put a certain percentage into a private account, but would get nothing from the government in retirement.

I am 57 years old and zero, and I mean ZERO, expectation of collecting a penny from it. Even if it is "solvent' in ten years, payments will probably come with so many government requirements that it won't be worth applying for.

Give these 20 million illegal migrants guest worker status where they must pay into SS with a reduced benefit should they stay long enough to collect. No collections if they ever leave.
No SSI disability or Medicare, ever.

Never planned on it being there for my retirement... It will just be a "bonus" if it is but I will draw the day I am eligible and not one day after...
Pisses me off what the government has stolen from us...

in the late 80's/early 90's we all wanted to opt out - probably just like all young people today.
