You do realize that is not an option and a hiring freeze applies to billets...not dollars right?

so they didn't have enough employees before?

a hiring freeze only affects expansion not treading water.

I'd love to see the combined annual budget of all the US military day care centers worldwide and compare it to what we spend on the F35 in a month.

Granted. I'd like spending on both counts to be cut.

I thought libs would cheer military spending cuts

yeah read paragraph 4

they could make cuts elsewhere

military bureaucrats are still bureaucrats. they know what programs to cut to make spending cuts sppears evil and unconscionable to get that emotional reaction. and they know how to leak this to reporters so that people like DS make these posts on message boards to fuel the outrage

Soooooo, you're saying the military should prioritize daycare over fighter jets. Interesting

daycare is easy. throw all the kids in a gym with some caprisun and some dodgeballs.

how much that cost?

the F35 program has been a boondoggle and i'll never forgive Obama for cutting the F22 program due to its cost while thie costs of the F35 exploded. plus frick the marines for their insane requests. but at least it's a legitimate advance in technology that keeps our dominance in the air and cannot be found anywhere else

daycare is a fungible service that can be found in basically every city across the US, so it's not comparable

I get the argument, there's always going to be some unfortunate side effects when you shake up a broken system.

But this is our servicemen we're talking about. And it's not like these men/women get paid all that great; replacing these services on the market will stretch budgets for many of them. And given the emphasis of Trump's administration on being there to support our soldiers, I'd absolutely mark this one into the unfortunate consequences category.

Hopefully there is a workaround to this freeze for departments like this one meant to support our troops. This isn't the end of the world or anything, but it also doesn't feel right to scale back support services to our military right now

Looks the hiring freeze is working as intended. Getting rid of non essential programs and only operating the essential ones as Govt is supposed to do

These clowns are chained and locked to Trump's train at this point. They're all in. There is no going back.

Trump could screw a corpse and Trumpkins would Yell "Yeah! 3d chess! Look at the libtards and MSM melting! He's in their head. MAGA!!"

Hhhmmmmm, since when did a "hiring freeze" become a layoff or termination. Something is wrong here

So they cancel Part-Day daycare to expand Full-Day daycare?

Is there a rule that you can't check your kid out early at full-day?

Wonder how many Ingalls, Raytheon, and Boeing contractors they are paying to install a single circuit card in a single cabinet? 6? 15?

This is an opportunity for liberals to step up and create a charity to fund child care services for our military folks.

Do it. I'll donate.

I think you are just being bitchy though. You actually don't care enough to take any action save for bitching on a website.

If I'm wrong, send me the donate link.

read paragraph 4

this cut was made intentionally to get the "awwwww" reaction

this is how bureaucrats work. they know how to manipulate hearts and minds to protect their waste

Actually no. You can reduce force through attrition during a hiring freeze. If someone leaves or gets promoted, you can move people around..but not bring in a new hire...so it is a net loss of one person.

For example, tDev gets promoted. You can back fill his slot with someone who is already in the government...and then back fill that person in the same way, etc etc...but you can't hire a new government employee.

Because it's only being sold as a hiring freeze. It looks like, in reality, a way to shrink a lot of existing federal employees. Which is fricking awesome.
