If they just let this fizzle (which I sense that they will), it will be both a short term and a long term loss for them.
If they force an impeachment vote in the House and it passes, at least they would have their short term "win".
I think Trump is the benefactor in either scenario. But the thing that bugs all of us is the question "why would they start this knowing they ultimately can't really win?" How does that make any sense at all?

Yep, that's why there is no dates to end this. It will tire the country out and will hurt the dems just the same. They are also trying to make it so he can't select another Supreme Court Justice.

Yah I forgot about that. It's one of the few things that makes sense, is that maybe they're laying the ground work to REEEEEESIST and gin up public sentiment in case RBG dies or Democrat lynching victim Clarence Thomas retires.

All this has ever been is a distraction from the fact this congress can't get anything done. Aunt Nancy has led the worse House in the history of the United States.
What about immigration?
What about healthcare?
What about the trade agreement?
What about anything that matters?
No, it's just Russia, Russia, Russia and now Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine. Impeach, impeach, impeach. In 2020 the Republicans take back over the House, hopefully they will do a better job than last time because their lack of success on major issues is why we are in the shape we are with the Dims in control.

Funding the Government / Appropriations expires and needs to be re-upped by November 21, 2019.
Do you think Trump shuts down the government like Chuck U. Schumer thinks he will to get impeachment off the table?
ETA: Trump should put infrastructure and USMCA on the table, force the Dems to pass those initiatives and let the Dems hang themselves on impeachment.
