You hear it every cycle, but is this the most consequential election of our lifetime?

While I am definitely in the camp that the decline/destruction of the USA is inevitable (all empires fall, especially ones that stop behaving like empires), Trump is clearly the finger in the dike. If he loses, we're done in less than 20 years.

I think the Clinton/Trump election was bigger.

You thought the left couldn’t get more despicable than 2016, then overdrive.
But Gorsuch turned out to be a deluded imbecile, and I was much less worried about him than kavanaugh. So maybe it isn’t as consequential is I thought.

Even if he wins another term, everything will go back to DNC/GOPe in the future.

If he loses we're done immediately. If he wins we're done in 4 years.

And everyone will put their money energy and votes into that GOPe because "muh lesser of two evils" as if it matters how fast the car is moving as it goes over the cliff

If voting made a difference they wouldn't let you do it

Im guessing if the Dems gain control of both houses and POTUS they will likely misread that as a mandate. When in reality the middle was just tired of chaos.
Then they will try for two years to pass some kinda stupid legislation. They know they can only use reconciliation once per year and it has to be involving budget, debt limit, etc. Everything else requires 60 vote (3/5s) cloture vote in the senate to proceed.
After about two years of acrimony, debate, and passing a watered down version of what they wanted.....they will probably lose both houses.
just a guess based on recent history

1992.
Lots of problems we have today and things both sides complain about were implemented under Clinton. Trade deals, failure to follow they on immigration, crime bills, the legislation that led to 2008 housing crash, China..

The one thing I will enjoy if a GWHB type wins again is watching libs cry about dumb wars and abuse of intel agencies. I will say, you don't know how good you had it with Trump. And if somehow Biden wins, it will be funny to watch the anti-war left do nothing when he cranks up the war machine.

Short answer is yes, but for all practical purposes our Government has become dysfunctional at it's core anyway. Hell, the ran and 'Impeachment' Hearing in Congress, for months, will all full well knowing that it was a fraud, and a soft coup to remove a duly elected POTUS.
We are clinging to what's left...because educated folk know what the option is. The re-election of Trump will only further the divide; the Left will nullify any Trump initiatives, and just like up in Seattle, only bruforce can put down what is a Marxist Insurrection. Classic, historical Marxist MO.

and don't forget the Telecommunications Act that has led basically to monopolies in the media...

Yes.
If people can't see the naked Fascism and Anarchy that the Democrats are imposing on the country right now while only holding ONE branch of government, they will never wake up.

No, he explained that was just lockerroom talk.
Now, Biden, on the other hand... (pun intended)

The world you want to save has been gone for 30 years, minimum.
The American people knew we needed a major political change in 2008, following the catastrophic reign of Neo-Cons and Neo-Libs.
The top 4 choices for President were Obama, Clinton, McCain, and Romney - all 4 literally the exact same in hindsight.

Honestly, it's an overt indication that government is too big.
