Incredibly short sighted. Iran was once a US ally, too.

We should have left things well enough alone in the 1950s

and potentially open the door to uranium enrichment in the kingdom’s territory

I wonder if this snip is 100% conjecture by the author.

Idk how civilian nuclear reactors are constructed but if it can be done under the watchful eye of the U.S., I see no problem in that.

You realize England and the US overthrew the democratic government of Iran in 1953 over oil royalties right? We ended democracy in Iran to install a king who sucked and the 1979 revolution was a revolt against that king

Maybe, just maybe the US should actually stop getting involved in the Middle East?

Really not a fan of this on the surface. The Saudis are barely 2 decades from supporting the greatest terrorist attack on American soil, and while they've modernized quickly alongside UAE and Qatar - they're still Muslim and have a long way to go towards earning the trust of the westernized world.

That being said

It is designed to give American companies a central role in developing Saudi Arabia’s nuclear infrastructure while shutting out other foreign competitors.

If this is true and they're on the verge of bringing it to their country no matter what, I'd much rather the US be the hand that guides them and has full control and oversight opposed to a Russia or China

I just don’t agree, sorry

I look at Iran in the 1970s and I see freedom. I see bare skinned, beautiful women attending college. I see free markets. I see westernization. I see pluralistic political participation. I see a rising economic tide that lifted all boats.

That doesn’t seem bad to me

He was still pretty brutal towards opposition, a lot like Prince Mohammed Bin Salman

The problem was that he couldn’t find a way to keep the Shia clerics in check. Where he failed, MBS succeeded.

And Timothy McVeigh and his accomplice were from the United States. So……?

Let us know when you/y’all settle on the proposed distinction/difference.

Saudi Arabia is where the bulk of the 911 perps originated but I’m sure the President has good reasons to want this.

A nuclear Saudi Arabia and a nuclear Turkey are about the only things that could stay Israel’s hand. We cannot control them, but the other powers in that region might; especially if they offer mutually beneficial, economic agreements.

What's your deal Jones? You're invoking Timothy McVeigh to make your point?
