This is a big deal. American's haven't designed and built new greenfield nuke plants for several decades. We are not the world leader in this market. This allows us to build up our capabilities again while working out the kinks in an area not near us. Everyone knows we have to start building nukes again. I get the hesitation about islamic countries but ever since new king purged the SA government during Trumps first term, SA has been one of, if not the best, allies USA has had since Trump's first term.

There is no way Donald can be dumb enough to allow them to enrich uranium there. Absolutely nothing is stopping us from delivering the fuel needed to get the reactor going. Terrible fricking idea.

The U.S. and Saudi Arabia became close strategic allies long before Trump came along. As in he was probably like ten yrs old when that happened.

You missed the point. The current SA is not the same SA from before Trump's first term. There was a huge change in ruling philosophy and behavior.

Your post jogged a memory of something from when I was in London last year. We all talk about how certain countries have basically signed their own demise letting a lot of Muslims in. However when I was there I saw a lot more Muslim kids and young adults acting way more westernized than I was expecting from dress, to what they were eating, to the language they were using, etc.
My hope is that a lot of them realize how batshit crazy their religion is and they become way more westernized in the next generation.

I am wondering why Trump didn’t at least get the Saudis to join the Abraham Accords as a condition? I can’t believe he didn’t extract that concession. A Saudi-Israeli peace deal would go a long way to helping cool things out in the Middle East and help to stabilize things. A real missed opportunity here.

I don’t know whether laugh or cry at the apparent fact that it clearly didn’t even cross your mind to brainstorm about what differences or distinctions you might run across that would/should easily bring you to the conclusion that they’re far from reasonably comparable scenarios. Of course the ideal timing on that, if being as fully informed as possible is something you’re interested in, BEFORE going ahead with publicly clowning oneself.
