Some say the very best Boots on the Ground. Spectacular boots, they are. People can't even believe it.

If I had to guess, and knowing Trumps love of leveraging oil resources, I’d say this is about Kharg Island. He’s boxing the Mullahs in- letting them know “your stuff are belong to us”.

I was assured in another thread that any concern I had for my Army son and daughter-in-law being on the ground there was idiotic, since they both signed up to do whatever Donald Trump wants them to do.

that's not what you were assured. You were assured that they entered a military academy with full knowledge they may be asked to serve by their country in combat. That's not "whatever Trump wants them to do". That's the obligation they took on as part of the package of attending

And that if you or they thought otherwise you and they are complete idiots

And that your moral high horse because they made that obligation is false.

If you volunteer for military service, what exactly are you training for, getting paid for, accruing retirement benefits etc if not to fight the wars of the U.S. govt?

To the military folks and those yelling “NO MORE ME WARS”, what wars exactly did you sign up to fight in? The last time US territory was attacked by another nation state was 12/7/1941 at Pearl Harbor, HI.

So I guess I am confused as to what exactly these folks thought they were signing up for?

From Korean thru Present Day, the U.S. military has been sent into harm’s way to places that have not directly attacked the U.S. homeland.

If you sign up and know this, why would you be angry about fighting in one of these conflicts?

Are these folks suggesting that those that sign up should just be paid, fed, and housed to train and for the military to be just another social program for the masses?

It’s funny that I’ve been assured on here since the outset that boots on the ground won’t be needed.

The Iranian people we are doing this for will rise up on their own.

Then rumors of Marine EUs…ehhhh that just for securing the Strait. In and out.

Now the 82nd…

This is Iraq all over again without telegraphing our intentions by at least seeking congressional approval.

They get one of the greatest educations on the planet and a lifetime of opportunity

Paid for.

It’s an amazing honor and opportunity. They must be amazing people to have it.

Probably could have gone to Duke or Stanford. Wherever.

They chose West Point. Great choice.

Thank goodness they obligated themselves to a country that loves respects and appreciate their service

According to him

Whatever Trump wants them to do.

Maybe they pee on beds Obama slept in.

But I’d bet if they are worth the spit they shine their boots with, they’d be embarrassed by that statement of his

Ok, but we're not. Just like the 2 ARGs full of crayon eaters are going to be nearby, but not in Iran. It's just positioning and the threat they might be used. The professional alcoholics of the 82nd will get TDY pay, and it's just like how there is essentially a battalion of the 82nd deployed to the Siniai that has been there for decades.

He seems to be concerned with a possible deployment of said kids.

But oddly won't even tell you what that do.

Wasn't even asking what unit they are assigned to.

Really not trying to be coy. Both have sensitive jobs, and I’m pretty sure his has already gone off into stuff he’s not telling me about (and I’m not asking).

alleged kids. who do "stuff: he can't tell you about. for a nation he thinks so little of he believes somebody who is their CIC would ask them to do whatever he feels like.

I have a number of West Pointers in my life. Amazingly successful. Make an appreciative guy like me a lot of money just for listening to their advice and being smart enough to invest in them while staying out of their way.

They didn't get where they did in life by seeing themselves as a victim of somebody else's choices.

They have some amazing first and close second hand Black Hawk Down stories.

They have (and know they have) my undying gratitude and admiration for what they've done for this nation.

This. These are citizens that VOLUNTEERED to go fight wars. No one forced them to do it. They get incredible perks because of it.
