Not to put the cart in front of the horse but I think Abbott would be a great choice in 2024.

I think him running with Rick Scott would be a for sure winner. Both are/were great governors and leaders in the GOP. Very level headed and not to estasblishment.

I think it’s a pipe dream both run on the same ticket but it would carry Texas and Florida easily. Both are well liked by the Hispanics, each almost garnered 40% of Hispanic in 2018 and both did particularly well with blacks, garnering above 15% which is something considering many GOP candidates can’t scratch 10%.

Both also have incredible resumes of being business friendly and producing thriving economies.

The lefts derangement doesn’t seem like it will slow down and I can see them totally attacking Abbott for being in a wheel chair which would not bode well with independents.

Just my afternoon thoughts.

I don’t think Pence and Cruz can carry any midwestern states because of their social views.
A chunk of the GOP isn’t ready for another Bush, Kasich, Rubio, Ryan, Graham type.

I think Abbott/Scott or vice versa would be an incredible duo and would keep the GOP intact. Keep a lot of trumps initiatives and policies in place, without all of the twitter pomp and attacks.

Thoughts?

Thanks to Greg Abbott for this comment......

quote:

Texas Governor Greg Abbott slammed Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards for his handling of the state’s economy, going as far to say that Edwards has made his job easier when it comes to attracting jobs to the Longhorn state. Abbott says Texas’ economy is growing, because of a business friendly environment, and wished the same for Louisiana, but…

“A roadblock to achieving that vision has been a governor who is raising taxes and cutting bullishness incentives.”

We already did that. Abbott would be our second time doing just that.

I think the third Trump term will be the best ever. By then the camps will be complete.

All true. But i think the biggest obstacle is that Democrats know how to defeat a traditional GOP candidate. A normal GOP can still win, but need to galvanize sectors of the party that are usually passive.

One of the keys to Trumps victory was getting those unhappy with current GOP to vote.

This raises a question, did the GOPe leave their voters or the opposite? Because the GOPe (outside of Trump loyalists) seem to have less in common with their blue collar constituents as time moves on.

I think Abbott would be great. Wish he was in the White House now.
