I think this is a bad argument. We don’t have a draft. People willingly join the military and get paid for their service. I don’t think that should be abused nor should we take war lightly but I see this argument made repeatedly and it’s a poor one.

It's an all volunteer military. So I'd be sad if I lost a son or daughter. They both serve and men and women have died recently. I don't know if this answers about OK. I'd be sad.

They are not drafted but volunteers. There is no sacrifice I would personally make. That would be those who went and didn't come back.
There are stupid wars and needed wars and wtf wars. I would pray my son only served in the needed wars and would be proud of my son regardless of the outcome.

There's a lot of keyboard commandos here, they'll sacrifice everything by the sounds of some of these replies.

Bottom line is we don’t go to war unless they are a true threat.

No one here has the intelligence briefings Trump has so you have no clue as to what Iran is planning. Don’t act as though there is never a time for action. There is but let’s hope this isn’t one of those times.

If you know Trump as good as I do then you know he’s not going to go to war for no reason. He’s not gullible like George Bush was. I’m trust him enough to know that he will not attack unless evidence shows beyond the shadow of a doubt we are in danger.

Outside of an operation to flatten Mecca and make it radioactive, no. Well, maybe in an operation to retake Constantinople and boot the Turks out of Byzantium.

I’ll comment here, as I probably have a somewhat unique viewpoint on this board in respect to this question.

I spent a year and a half in Afghanistan while in the Army. I have a son who just finished his freshman year of college.

I don’t want my son to go to war. I wouldn’t want to risk losing him for anything or anyone on this planet. I’d rather just go back myself.

I’d also feel a sense of pride if he did decide to serve, so it’s complicated.

But a Middle East war would be hard for me to get behind. What me and my buddies did in Afghanistan didn’t change anything, and likely didn’t make anyone in the USA safer. That’s hard for me so say, but the truth.

If we ever do go back to ‘war’ over there, I’d hope it was total war. Total destruction and capitulation. That’s the kindest way to wage war for both sides.

We were in Afghanistan for the poppy fields so the CIA could continue its drug racket.

I am pro military but anti nation building. Tired of wasting time, American lives, and taxpayer dollars in the middle east. We have no business being there.

Joining a Military Branch is not for everyone. The only one sacrificing anything is the one serving.

You can lay the blame squarely on O’dumbass. His Iranian cluster of a deal was more important than shutting down terrorist funding

Do you think that ANY parent at ANY TIME in history was ok with losing their son in combat? Do you consider WW2 justified? Do you think that parents then were ok with losing their child?
Your post is absolutely inane!
