The reason we don’t compare musk to you is why we have medians.

The median income in this country is $40k. Why do fed employees come in at $106k? Get ready to learn “unemployed”

Apparently they got “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country” wrong.

These people wouldn't last a month in private sector which is why they are career federal government employees which btw is nothing but a 'jobs' program for people who aren't smart enough to work in private sector. Sounds harsh but its just reality and we have many examples of this and DOGE has exposed it.

So, you're saying that all government employees aren't smart enough to work in the private sector? That's funny because I have several friends who work for the FAA that could make twice as much in the private sector due to the nature of their positions. To lump everyone into the same category is disingenuous at best.

The feel like they deserve a job. Now they go get a real job where they gotta work 9-5

If they were smart they would take the buy out

During the previous administration, they hired just to get the numbers up. At the same time, hired DEI people, that too, just to get those numbers up. It was 4 years of a clown show. All Presidents Trump is trying to do, get the numbers around the 2019 number of employees.

For the moment, I'm a Federal Employee and don't feel like I am entitled to or deserve my job. I am thankful that, for the past ten years, God has provided me a job that I enjoy, even though it has had it's ups and downs. I had already decided that I wasn't going to work past 65 and am taking advantage of the deferred resignation / retirement program and am looking forward to doing something other than being behind a computer screen 8 plus hours a day.

Have another downvote clown.

You are defending people who have been flooding social media with tears over having to answer an email but you think they will survive in the private sector getting 200 to 500 emails a day and having to respond to them?

I saw a TV show about a very talented manager with years of good service and experience get laid off due to "Redundancy". It was a documentary that chronicled just how difficult times like this can be. I hope that David Brent is doing well now.

I am not defending anyone. I don't agree with those who are flooding social media with their plight. I am just stating the fact the people I know could make twice as much in the private sector due to the nature of their positions and would not be answering 200-500 emails a day as most are in the aviation field.

I'm sorry that you can't accept that not everyone who works for the Federal Government is not smart enough to get dressed every morning.

Understood. My wife teaches at a college in the midwest and they are dealing with severe financial issues as well.

I'm seeing this in many sectors. A possible recession is incoming

I dont think there is necessarily a recession coming, but I think there are probably some long overdue adjustments in a lot of sectors. Once we are through it, I think the country will be better off. There are many institutions (education and otherwise) that may be shocking to see close shop after existing for 100 plus years, but once you dig into it you realize they”ve been facing issues for a long time and just glossing over real problems at their core. Eventually the money runs dry but the rent is still due, and there is no bs’ing your way around being broke anymore.

But the employees or students at those institutions will just start going more and more to the large institutions/universities that have a huge bankroll. Things will keep churning along.

Those numbers are from feds.

Federal employees should have their wage tied to median income with certain boosts (I.e have a law degree). In no way should typical fed base pay be 2.5x of what a typical American makes

Gov data
