Blow up the VA and the Social Security Admin and it’s a different story
People who are not doing their job correctly are being fired. Cuts must be made in many departments, this is a fact. I have worked with the VA. These mid level employees are not working they are getting paid to do almost nothing. After 10 or 15 years of working you do not deserve to get a paycheck, watching others work. "I paid my dues" should never exist. If you want to get paid do your work. A very simple concept.

Just reckless dumbassery.
Who would have thought that a well established pattern of reckless dumbassery would have led to someone becoming the richest man on Earth? Self-made, at that.
I know that has to be the case, because an anonymous poster on TigerDroppings says so. And his methods and accomplishments are surely greater than the guy we're discussing, a self-made billionaire.

do it by being radical.
You misspelled reckless.
Time will tell - in short order - how effective the abrupt surprise mass firings and gutting essential agencies are. Cuts needed to be made, everyone agrees on that no matter if left, right, or center. Cuts needed to be made more thoughtfully and carefully. Slick Willy Clinton managed to shrink the government workforce by 420,000 during his term. It can be done without being reckless.

You say this:
But then in the next sentence you say this:
Wasn't that exactly the question asked in the email?
"What is it you do at your job? Please give me a short list of five tasks that you performed recently."
It's either relevant or it's not. You can't have it both ways.

That’s a deflection from what the issue really is.
But then in the next sentence you say this:

Musk and his lil kid geeks don’t have a clue what most federal job responsibilities even are.

As you said, time will tell if it's reckless or radical.
I'm betting we'll be just fine.

The school where I work is closing at the end of the school year due to low enrollment
This is because the past 20 years of political leadership in this country makes it difficult to have more than 1 or 2 kids.

The email said
It did not ask the employees to list what their job requirements were. It asks what they accomplished. It’s short sighted.

This has never been done in the government, at least not for a long period of time.
Doesn't anyone in here remember the days of Marvin Runyon?
He laid off 7,000 in one day at the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), then moved on to lay off 23,000 as the Postmaster General at his next gig.

Fook these people.
I got laid off in 2008, due to the global economic crisis, my pay went from 72k a year to (unemployment) $1,600 per month minus taxes.
I had a mortgage, new baby, wife, two cars and was barely getting by.
That's something to cry about, when you have other people relying on your salary.
And yes, in 2008 72K would pay for all that

Do you really think that someone is going to evaluate each email to determine if the employee was doing their job? Or can you believe that this is just a way to see which employee does not really exist or who feels that they are so special that they can refuse to respond? Failure to respond puts the employee into a category of being more carefully evaluated.
They are dealing with the federal civil service. They can't just cut people on a whim but if they refuse to do what the supervisor asks, they can probably be terminated. And if you have to cut, you want to cut the people who won't take instructions first.

They have crazy PTO policy and healthcare/pension. Average fed salary is also more than 2x average private sector salary
I really don't understand the narrative people are tying to push with this?
1. Government workers no longer get pensions
2. Average salary is lazy and dishonest. If you take my salary and Elon Musks salary and get an average how will that look?
I can guarantee you that people working at the Little Rock Air Force base aren't routinely pulling in 100k

Saw a scroll on the TV that Starbucks is having a big layoff. Where is the outrage?

I love watching you progstains consumed by your hatred and lashing out, stupidly I might add.
I could lose my job today...and have another by Monday.
Why? Because I have value in what I bring to the table that others do not offer.

FEDERAL government workers get a pension, it's just not generous. I think it's part of a retirement, it's not enough on its own.
If people found out the retirements their local government workers sometimes get they'd be buying pitchforks.

He did the same thing with Twitter. Cut 80% of the workforce right off the bat. And yeah, they did have to build back up over 1-2 years, but they are now back to $1.2 Billion in revenue, close to the company's all time high of $1.4 Billion, with a hugely streamlined labor force.
These government crybabies can't understand this and this concept is foreign to them because they are used to such bloat and waste. The ONLY way to do this is with a sledgehammer. A 'scalpel' approach would not work and would not accomplish anything. Nobody on here has been as critical of Trump as I have over the last several years but this is the right approach and was way overdue.

Gutting essential agencies.
Gutting the agency or the waste within it?
Bureaucrats are just as capable of being able to wait on tables, stock shelves and clean toilets.
Just like Biden told the miners to learn how to code, perhaps Trump can tell bureaucrats to learn how to weld.

I'm just pointin out that if people in Arkansas were to look at salaries at people California they'd be shocked at the differnce. Using an average is just lazy.
