What does it look like if 80-90% of MPD just doesn't show up for their next few shifts?

Do them like Reagan did the air traffic controllers - do your job or lose it. Then as someone above said, declare martial law if not enough policeman remain on the job.

Most politicians hate them especially in blue states. And those politicians that do support them are afraid to speak out.

Civil society hires Police to keep the heathen lawbreakers at bay; if the Police abandon this ugly task - for whatever reason - then the heathen will prey on civil society...and civil society will not just lay down to be raped, murdered and plundered. They will form groups, and fight together...hunting down the heathen with no mercy. Cops will join in. This is not the kind of complex rocket science that put our guys in orbit today; it's human psychology and Mother Nature 101.

It would look like martial law. Because that would be the only option left to keep the peace.
In the back of my mind these last few months I've been thinking about how we could feasibly get from where we are now to a point where we could actually see a roundup of criminal politicians in this country. Well, I think you would need martial law in order for it to work. I've been thinking that maybe the covid19 thing would bleed the states dry to the point where they just couldn't pay their police officers anymore and that's why Mitch McConnell was advocating for letting the individual states go bankrupt during this crisis. But it doesn't appear that's gonna happen.
So maybe we do need to see a LEO strike.

If I wanted to abuse my authority with without fear of repercussions, yeah I might not show up.
Or if I just wanted to arrest law abiding citizens for going to a park or doing their jobs and not face scary situations.
