Wouldn't surprise me in the least, and unfortunately his lemmings would follow. The man is driven by his Ego and that alone. Not this deep down love for hard working Americans like he peddles.

Why is it always “Trump will run as an independent” and never, “the gop(e) isn’t listening to its base and never support trump?”

I would have gladly followed him to any party he formed in 2020, 2021. Probably not now.

Being fiscally conservative is a winning issue now IMO.
Normally I would agree, but the GOPe just caved to the Dems, and there were quite a few “conservatives” on this board that were happy about it.

Yes, he will. If he doesn’t get the nomination, he will insist that it was stolen just like the 2020 election and he will run third party and sink the Republicans. He will take down the GOP nominee and torpedo the House and the Senate.

Where can I donate lumber to help them build?

I thknk he would and should. You have to stand up for what you believe and show it with actions not just words. I think America would welcome a third party candidacy by him and he should do it.
I also support this, especially if there's shenanigans. But even if there's not, I'm ready to see the Republican Party either change to more of his economic and foreign policy stances - or end.
The GOP has never seemed more charlatan to me than they do right now. They all had the chance to adapt to what he was pushing but they fought back. I'd rather that spell their doom than watch them continue in their current state.

Trump is running for President with or without the Republican nomination. He’s holding the party hostage.

I think we all know that if Trump went rogue, democrats wins. I hear some word that Trump is threatening to take his ball and walk if he doesn’t get the Republican nomination . Mostly word of mouth stuff from acquaintances who say they know people .. whatever But it got me thinking that Trump could really throw a stink bomb on this whole deal if he wanted. Just look at the posters here and you can assume millions more like them across the country would do nothing BUT follow Trump off a cliff. Trump could ask them to walk in front of a train and they’d do it. Would you vote Trump if he defected from the Republicans and went rogue?
Following off a cliff ….. is exactly what you’re doing by believing that it’s about Trump …. when it is really about Washington DC corruption. Are you obtuse? … or just pretending?
We The People are tired of being sold-out by elected officials and their K-Street puppet masters….

What if Trump “wins” the nomination, but the RNC refuse his candidacy?
Sadly, this highly unlikely scenario may actually be plausible. I will defer to someone more familiar with how “superdelegates” (the Republican version) may play a role. Still, the GOPe going against the will of the people would not be surprising. Sadly, it is actually becoming the norm. As such, I wouldn’t discount this as a possibility unless a poster can confirm that path doesn’t exist.

Remember what the dems did to Bernie?
I think this scenario is the most plausible. I also think the RNC is fine with Trump running third party because they don't really want to win anyway. The party as a whole prefers to punch up and doesn't like having power. They enjoy merely bring the party of opposition and they know they can all get rich enough from that position.
They probably won't see it coming though when he starts his own party. That's when the real bloodletting starts.

He will cry foul, claim cheating, and then run independent or at the very least tell his supporters to stay home.
Posted on 6/5/23 at 8:24 am to SlidellCajun
The Dems cannot be stopped. At least via 'legitimate' systematic means, as the systems have been corrupted and politicized to support Dems. Trump will be damn lucky to stay out of jail.

that was the difference in cliton vs Bernie. super delegates, the office holders and party officers chose Clinton.
hopefully someone knows if and what % are super delegates.
Fwiw also: think Gop is going with state winner gets all delegates.

Why in the world would a former incumbent with over 50% numbers and a huge lead even contemplate a independent run? If he wanted to run independently, he could have done it either time he ran. It is incredible to me how people who completely hate Trump always seem get "very credible inside information" on him. Perhaps their imaginations and desires are at work here.
