Will a 2nd silicon valley emerge?

It's well known that silicon valley is a left wing echo chamber and diversity of thought is frowned upon.
There has to be at least some talent pool that isn't all left wing to enter the market. And note I don't even mean right wing. Just a politically neutral entity.
You already see some talent going south to Los Angeles to get out of the valley. Will a saner tech industry standard up in defiance to the big boys on the block?

Yes, it’s called Austin, TX.

Not even remotely close to Research Triangle in Raleigh-Durham or CRP in Huntsville.

I think Livingston Parish will end up being silicone valley of the south
Read somewhere that is has third highest tech population per capita as anywhere in America

Livingston Parish is home to one of two Laser Interferometer
Gravitational-Wave Observatories.
LIGO in Livingston Parish - It's some pretty serious shite

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) is designed to open the field of gravitational-wave astrophysics through the direct detection of gravitational waves predicted by Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. LIGO’s multi-kilometer-scale gravitational wave detectors use laser interferometry to measure the minute ripples in space-time caused by passing gravitational waves from cataclysmic cosmic sources such as the mergers of pairs of neutron stars or black holes, or by supernovae. LIGO consists of two widely separated interferometers within the United States—one in Hanford, Washington and the other in Livingston, Louisiana—operated in unison to detect gravitational waves.

Losing bitmain to canada doesn't help... but I've bought a lot of hardware from there last 4-5 years.

The Leftist thing is no more monolithic in Silicon Valley as it is in Hollywood.
People pretend just to not be ostracized
.
Hopefully Damore’s lawsuit shakes up Silocon Valley.

The cost of living in the Bay Area is ridiculous. It definitely needs to happen

Cost is far more prohibitive to SV's growth than politics.
SV has a fairly large libertarian contingent even now. They aren't necessarily working for the Googles and Facebooks of the world, but they are all over the place in the VC and smaller start ups out there.
To your question, though, Boston has the largest VC community in the country outside of northern California. They tend to be a little more healthcare start-up oriented, though.

What are you looking for from this "2nd Silicon Valley" that you don't think you have already?

You’re right, it’s not close, it’s better.

Salt Lake City
A high-tech mecca rises to rival Silicon Valley
SaaS is one of the reasons I moved here.
Adobe is expanding their office here. eBay, Pluralsight, Qualtrics. Tons of VC money and strong economy locally.
Actually a good blend here. Salt Lake Central being pretty diverse, surrounded by obviously right wing politics.

Then you don't know anything about Austin.

It’s already happened.
Feb. 8, 2018: Tech salaries in LA and Austin are catching up with Silicon Valley
quote:
Silicon Valley is notorious for its stratospheric tech salaries and cost of living to match. But a new tech salary report released by jobs site Hired.com on Thursday indicates that companies in tech hubs elsewhere, such as Los Angeles and Austin, are quietly raising salaries to become more competitive.
