Wild dashcam video of badass S. African security driver thwarting cash-in-transit heist

Youtube
Apparently, these armored car heists are common in South Africa. Gangs of thieves armed with AKs coordinate multiple cars to swarm the CIT vehicles and frequently bomb the cargo compartments to get the cash.
This baw driving the armored Land Cruiser tells the would-be thieves "not on my watch" as he takes his young partner on a high-speed chase under heavy gunfire in what could be a scene from a John Wick or Jason Bourne movie.
(ETA- action begins at around 1:10 mark)
Seen different reports on how it ended for the would-be thieves, but thanks to the driver's mad driving skills, cool-under-fire reactions, and definitely help from the bulletproof glass, the security guards lived.

The glass stood up remarkably well. Nice

The other guard/rider was definitely not up to the task....probably an accomplice.

Not likely, instead the drivers will be ordered to stand down and surrender.

Driver would be a good neighbor...unless PTSD kicks in.

I would buy one of those Cruiser pickups if they were available here.

The very definition of "cool under fire".
I'd let that guy uber me around any day.

Probably an ex-South African mercenary. I worked with one while working in Nigeria. He was a bit deranged and would definitely want him on my side.

I am sure there are some areas in this country where the Uber drivers would prefer to have this type of vehicle.

Yeah, the poor kid has taken some shite for his part. But, to be fair, he couldn't do much more than follow commands, not distract driver baw and follow proper firearms handling. And he was smart enough to hand the gun off to the more experienced baw at the end.

Agree...But he was not mentally prepared and finally put a bullet in the chamber after a minute. He needs to be ready to jump out blasting. They should have 2 long guns ready.

It's okay. They have insurance.

That cab is too small to use that rifle. Need something like an Uzi.

And a little window they can open to shoot out of. They were kind of trapped in there.

I know where they could buy a lot of these cheap. It’s just a matter of time before they start using IEDs to take out the vehicles.

Good gun control... what about the part when doesn’t know what to do with the pistol and muzzle sweeps himself and the driver.

As I mentioned in the OP, bombs are apparently a regular feature of the SA CIT thieves:

Watching it you could tell he noticed something in the side mirror he didn't like moments before all hell broke loose...

Is that New Orleans or Detroit?
