Karl knows that tampering with his mail is a federal offense. He doesn't play that.

You would think so but I foresee a big, meh.

Why? This is so huge nothing can be done about it.

The Patriot Act acted more as a method to desensitize people to this type of stuff (above making certain forms of cyber surveillance legal of course), but there is no doubt this was being done before (using the tech of the day) and would have been developed to this extent even without the PA.

Does this dump mention if these tactics are or were used against American citizens?

If so, then that's, uh, really bad

so that the owner falsely believes the TV is off when it is on.

so does this mean it doesn't record if the TV is on?

While the POS car may allow YOU to not be audio recorded, the rest of the cars on the road could be used against you. Rear camera on SUV ahead? Sudden swerving of the car to your right that was so smoothly engaged in cruise control a moment before? A lot of cars anti-lock braking and stuff is controlled by their onboard computer.

Most modern day pacemakers have blutooth technology embedded for transmitting of data. My grandmother has one and hooks it up to the internet everyday to upload data.

Yep, Dad has that too. They can adjust the pace and disable or "test" the defibrillator over wifi too. He even got some notice in a sort of pharmacy insert kinda thing about the potential for hacking.
