Speaking of clueless. I never said the media wasn’t corrupt. We’ve known this for a long time. The media vilifies anyone and everyone on the right. But that doesn’t mean we should have anyone from that group as president. Don’t be a moron.

Last I checked we own the strait and Iran was going to break the blockade.

Do you prefer boots on the ground now?

I would much prefer Eric Trump. Most people simply aren't as familiar with Eric as they are with his older brother.

And with Eric, you really would be getting a 2-for-1 deal with Lara Trump added in. Unlike when they foolishly said that about Bill and Hildabeast Clinton.

I have no issue with Hegseth but if you think he made the decision to bomb Iran then you have some serious TDS. Hegseth has done a good job reshaping the image of our armed forces but that’s about where it ends. He’s told what to do and when to do it. No need to make him into some strategic military or foreign policy guru that will make a run at president.

It goes to show there’s tards on both sides. I went to Trump’s first inauguration and was hit with that reality quickly. I had people telling me how he was a time traveler because some guy named Q posted about it online. I was like sheeeeeeeeit.

I don’t see anyone making him the decision maker on going to war in the Middle East.

But he did push it, wants to escalate it, and is the biggest cheerleader for it.

Federal laws and norms restrict active political campaigning by Senate-confirmed defense leaders while on official duty. Labeling it personal allowed Hegseth to explicitly endorse a congressional candidate.

Was Hegseth's trip to Kentucky to campaign against Massie listed as "personal?"

2028 run?
No.

quote:

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth went to Iowa on Monday, August 17, 2026, mainly to campaign for vulnerable Republican Rep. Zach Nunn at a veterans-focused fundraiser during the Iowa State Fair.

desmoinesregister.com

He appeared as a special guest at Nunn’s “Operation Top Nunn: Salute to the Troops” (Top Gun-themed) event at JR’s Southpork Ranch on the fairgrounds. The Pentagon described the trip as occurring in his “personal capacity” as a veteran and patriotic American (Hegseth himself noted the legal phrasing). He still used military aircraft, as required for secure communications due to his role.

washingtonpost.com

Key elements of the visit and remarks:Support for Nunn: Hegseth endorsed the combat-veteran congressman (Iowa’s 3rd District, rated lean Republican/competitive after a narrow 2024 win) and stressed the need for allies in Congress who back strong defense. He has previously campaigned for other Trump-aligned candidates.

nytimes.com

Defense priorities: He pushed the administration’s proposed $1.5 trillion defense budget (a large increase) amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, arguing troops “deserve” it for modernization and to maintain the strongest military in a “dangerous” world. He also highlighted restoring a “warrior ethos” and anti-DEI changes at the Department of Defense (sometimes referred to as the Department of War in recent coverage).

desmoinesregister.com

Honoring Iowa troops: He recognized fallen Iowa service members, including those killed in Syria (by an ISIS-linked attacker) and in an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait, noting he and President Trump attended many of the dignified transfers at Dover. He defended the Iran-related military actions as necessary to prevent nuclear threats.

thegazette.com

The event (originally planned for March) was postponed due to the start of the Iran conflict and related casualties. Iowa has drawn multiple Trump administration officials recently because of competitive House seats (including Nunn’s and Mariannette Miller-Meeks’), plus open Senate and governor races, even though the state has leaned Republican.

cbsnews.com

The trip has also fueled speculation about Hegseth’s possible 2028 ambitions (Iowa’s early primary role), though the primary stated purpose was supporting Nunn and related midterm efforts.

At least we should have a guy that had his own show with phenomenal ratings the likes of which had seldom been seen with a guy who has owned casinos and NY real estate over a co host on a cable morning quasi news show.

Maybe he just likes the weather?

The other day in my weather app I accidentally clicked on a random place in Iowa and they were under an Extreme Heat Warning
