Why would Pete Hegseth travel to Iowa “in his personal capacity”?

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth traveled to Iowa to campaign for vulnerable Republican Representative Zach Nunn at a veteran-focused event at the Iowa State Fair. Designating the trip as "personal" allowed him to engage in political campaign activities, which federal ethics rules and norms generally prohibit cabinet officials from doing in their official government capacity.
Federal laws and norms restrict active political campaigning by Senate-confirmed defense leaders while on official duty. Labeling it personal allowed Hegseth to explicitly endorse a congressional candidate.

God I hope not... Seems like the best choice out of this admin is Rubio.

Hegseth is the main clown of the circus. He would get destroyed.

Based on how things are going lately Trump will shun JD and Rubio then endorse Hegseth.

What a retarted TDS take

That’s a surprising take. Not saying you’re wrong though. To me, JD is the only one who isn’t foaming at the mouth for war. Rubio wants it for Cuba and Hegseth wants it for Iran.

The warmonger?
His ideas are the ones destroying this administration.
Hegseth is a warmonger too.
But I admit a President Hegseth would be an awesome thing to witness.

When Trump snuck out of AF1 he didn’t bring Marco with him. He brought Pete. MAGA heir apparent.

I prefer Rubio at this time, but I have no problem with Pete Hegseth throwing his hat in the ring.
The fact that posters like boosie think this is odd should tell you that, at the least, Hegseth would be a decent candidate. Even more, the fact that Hegseth immediately started catching heat in 2025 from the Left and the corporate media should tell anybody that they fear him. How many times did they float a fake story that Pete Hegseth was about to be fired?
The one's who get the worst treatment from the Left and corporate media like Trump/Hegseth/Pulte are the one's we should want in government.

So, by that logic, anyone that the corporate media vilifies is someone we want running our government?

Exactly
Posted on 8/18/26 at 8:39 am to boosiebadazz
I think he did this before.

He drew a non resident buck tag.

I mean, that’s retarded? That’s like voting for Kristi Noem since the media vilifies her. And her husband plays dress up!

Are you clueless regarding the corrupt, bought-and-paid-for corporate media? These are media outlets who willingly submitted their questions in advance to the Biden White House so that Brandon's staff could coach him on his answers.
Does that sound like "professional journalism" to you? Truth is, people like Trump, Hegseth, and Pulte who catch the most heat from the Left and the biased media are overwhelmingly the kind of people we need.
