Why was the Union Jack flag flown upside down during the kings visit?

Camilla returned to the UK by herself because she really dislikes flying and it was never planned for her to continue to Bermuda. She wants to minimize the amount of flying as much as possible.
As for the Union Jack, I learned something new today. I'm quite certain I would not have been able to tell if it was upside down or right side up until now (maybe).

The flags in the example aren’t the same flags. So screwing up a British flag must be pretty easy. If you flip one, it won’t match the other.
