Why was Hillary's loss so hard for liberals/democrats to deal with?

It's not like she was some great candidate. She was worse than McCain in 2008 and as bad as Dukakis or Mondale.

On foreign policy she was actually to the right of Trump and more aligned with the Bush neocons.

Her entire campaign was centered around the fact that she has a vagina and it was her turn.

So the question needs to be answered, what was so great about Hillary and why was her losing a detriment to liberals' lives that it has caused a yearlong meltdown?

8 years of having it their way and expecting another 4. They were becoming entitled to wins like Bama fans.

I don't think it's as much her loss as it is his win.

Why? How would their lives be better under Hillary? What has Trump done to make their lives worse?

There have been a couple of decent responses already, but I think this is one of the biggest factors.

Another huge factor, IMO? I think, deep down, the liberals really loved Bernie Sanders. I also think, deep down, a lot of liberals really wish Sanders had been on the ticket, instead of Trump.

Knowing that their 'safe' candidate lost and Sanders probably would have won makes a lot of liberals really upset. Sanders would have had huge youth turnout (which Clinton lost) and huge union support in states like PA, MA, WI, etc.

They actively screwed themselves out of a win, and that probably hurts the most.

Which should mean nothing according to the left because gender is a decision.

and

Women and Men are equal so why would having a vagina make a difference.

I'll give you an answer.

The social/political environment appeared to be breaking the way of Democrats/progressives in 2015 and 2016 and they thought they were on cruise control for the election.

Trump won because people that didn't like the hijack by progressives came out in force and weirdos that can't process that a dick is a dick and a vagina is a vagina shouldn't run the country.

You’ll prolly get a bunch of stereotypical poliboard responses including snow flakes and her turn stuff, but the reason the loss was so hard was due to the end of what some people consider “progression”. Minorities and “progressives” had been making leaps and bounds for the previous 8 years and felt like that train wasn’t ending. The only thing they couldn’t handle is a person winning who’s base contained people who were kinda obviously not putting the progression of minorities ahead of the economy. Trump never came out and said anything terrible, but the trump fans dog whistles of yearning for an earlier time and day of the United States didn’t just end with the economy. Any rational person could see that. The left was so used to winning that they truly thought they couldn’t be beaten and put every egg in the Hillary basket, a lot becoming arrogant and taunting when trump became the front runner for the right. They laughed and danced and high fived just knowing the next step for the left was a Woman president. Then trump happened. An old school rich old arse white dude who made fun of retards and grabbed women by their vag whenever he wanted. This caused a nuclear meltdown. Then Vice President obviously who isn’t a fan of gay people solidified their fears that instead of merely halting the progression of human rights for minorities, this could be the start of an actual reversal. The pendulum swung too far left for 8 years and when the right got a chance they’re taking it as far to the extreme as they can get, and that’s disheartening sometimes, but understandable.

After 8 years controlling the white house and favorable polls for Hillary, I think they had gotten used to having things their way, and might have convinced themselves that the country had “turned the corner” for them.

Look at MSM coverage immediately following the election, and the attitude was that everybody must hate what happened and agree with the propagandists. Hollywood talk was the same. It took a few reminders that half the country voted the other way, and the fake news callouts, to somewhat cool that off.

They had? Black people had unreal unemployment rates and more people were on government assistance than before.

Which the left made fun of the right for when Obama was elected. The left taunted the right for 8 years.
Now the left is acting worse. This is a melt never seen since the secession of states.

How often did you see a stat you trusted during the Obama years? I didn’t see a single unemployment number I thought was factual.

And it’s always about emotion and symbolism on the left. “Hope”. “Change”.
