Religion is simply a passed down set of stories and traditions that are used to shape society.
Some parts of the bible are great. it's not all bad. some of it is just outdated and not relevant to today. It doesn't change one of the defining dangers of religion continues to be the extremists it creates. even when not blowing something up they seem to be trying to subvert systems to force their beliefs on others.

The legal system continues to based on past precedents set this standard. Atleadt as far as society.
With religion it seems to just be whatever interpretation the leaders come up with at the time and then eventually it adapts or the religion dies on the fringes.
