Why isn’t Team Trump hammering the “pay their fair share” talking point?

Maybe they are on social media. I don’t follow it closely enough to know either way.
But the libs keep saying all they want to do is make the rich pay their fair share on taxes.
Are they currently not paying taxes?

Everyone needs to pay INCOME taxes, if we are going to have an INCOME tax. PERIOD! Full stop.
Lower income people can pay $100 bucks but have some friggin skin on the game.

I need someone to explain to me how exactly this lowers MY tax liability.

All of these billionaires would not be supporting Kamala if they thought there was even a small chance of her Marxist talking points coming to fruition. They KNOW this is just empty campaign rhetoric, just like when Biden spouted it four years ago.
They will do what they always do - govern for the ultra-rich, toss a few breadcrumbs to the poor, and take it all out of the middle classes' arse.

The left has invented a calculation that is bogus and shows that the rich pay a very low rate. Here’s how they do it.
We pay taxes on increasing value of assets when we sell the assets. For example, if I own a painting that I bought for $10,000 but would now fetch $110,000 I only pay taxes on that if I actually sell it and realize the gains.
The dems are calculating the increase in securities mostly and using that as the denominator - the numerator being the amount of taxes paid - to calculate the rate of taxes paid.
So if I had $200,000 of income, and paid 35%, or $70,000 of taxes, the Dems would divide the $70,000 in taxes by the sum of the $200,000 of taxable income that I had AND the $100,000 gain in value of the painting hanging in my study. They would say I only paid 23.3%, which is a lower rate than some working class schmuck who was at a 25% rate.
But the reality is that I paid a higher rate - 35%. It’s a big lie.

You realize there is a give and take in everything right? How many "rich" are we willing to gain by hammering this point? How many people do we stand to turn off with the background noise that the democrats pump out and the ads this would turn into touting that the "rich" pay their fair share already?
There is no meat on this bone to benefit and a significant amount of headache that could come from it.
Don't fool yourself into thinking you know better than people that do this for a living.

Keeping it simple; our money all goes to the same things like, schools, police, highways, defense funding, etc. Why should anyone else pay more/less tax based on how much they earn if we all get the same "stuff" in return.

You're giving the Dems way to much credit for being smart. Fact is they are just parrots repeating what they have heard the Democrats before them say.

That's why we should go to a national sales tax. Make basic essentials exempt, but then everyone truly pays, even the people who are hiding their income. We're a consumer based economy, make taxation consumer based also.

They want the "rich" to pay more. What they aren't saying is you'll still have to pay the same, if not more. Making the rich pay more will not decrease any of our taxes. It will just go to Ukraine and illegals, or thousands of other stupid expenditures.
And don't be surprised when they do this to find out you were "rich" all along and you are one of the ones who haven't been paying your fair share. These are the people whose definition of a woman (and dialect) changes depending on the temperature daily.

the tax plan that dems really want is: whatever you make, whatever is in all your accouts.... send it all in and we'll give you back what we think you need
Posted on 10/2/24 at 4:09 pm to TackySweater
Our spending problem is between 2 and 3 orders of magnitude larger than anything that could be looted from "the rich".
Of course, 75% of the public could not define "orders of magnitude" so you would have to dumb it down.

Yeah. Class envy and divisiveness. My question was more rhetorical than anything.

Your appeal to authority is noted, but it’s a logical fallacy for a reason.

I thought Obama, Biden and now Kamala have all campaigned on this, but it has yet to happen
Posted on 10/2/24 at 4:26 pm to TackySweater
The top 10% of income earners pay 75% of all income taxes, so if anyone has a fair share argument it's them!

Dems don’t hate the elite. They are the elite. They hate the guy who lives in the 2 story house on the cul-de-sac.
That guy needs to pay his fair share.
