The trial is just for the amount of damages. The judge already ruled on the fraud.

It’s civil if you’re discussing this property thing. So it’s not a big deal minus losing money and time. Do you think a jury would help trump anymore in that state?

Get the judge to become emotional. Make errors. Judges DO NOT LIKE to be questioned. They usually get away with garbage rulings because most defendants dont have the resources to put up much of a fight

So he gets the case overturned, which results in more Americans realizing its all been a railroad job since the first impeachment

lol

Trump totally has a plan here

Are you assuming the 2015 Obama-appointed judge who last week in a pre-trial ruling (meaning the fraud trial had not yet started) announced that Trump was guilty of committing the fraud he's now on trial for?

Nah, that judge is above being biased now that the trial has actually started...

Nope, you want the judge to have to make mistakes in order to convict.

First of all, this isn't a criminal trial, so there's no conviction.

And second, the Judge can make the same appealable issues in a Jury Trial as he would a Judge Trial.

I think that you may not understand how this case is being tried. Liability and damages were bifurcated. That was not a “pre-trial ruling.”. The judge ruled on liability last week. All that remains is damages and fines.

Everyone makes mistakes, and she has a good reputation for the most part and is supposedly a competent trial lawyer.

But if all of the various leaks are true and they intended to have a jury but didn't check the box, ouch. Trump has to be irate.

Its easy to do too, I know several lawyers that similar things have happened to them.

So, no answer? I’ll take that as an admission of guilt

The whole concept of Fair Market Value is the value of the asset he would get in an open market. If Trump at one point recieved an offer for his property at that much it wouldnt be unreasonable to list that as the FMV.

Not saying those are the facts but just that the judge is wrong about FMV not reflecting a buyer in SA.

Huh? This is a state civil trial. Engoron isn't a Federal judge. Obama had nothing to do with his seat.

I must have looked up a Trump trial judge from a different trial because earlier before I posted I read a story about a judge described as an Obama appointee in 2015 who was presiding over a Trump trial. Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

The facts are damning, so the only place he can win is in the court of MAGA opinion.

The "Judge" is a partisan prick, as is the OP. Neither the judge's name, nor its credentials were included in the thread. Very easy "mistake" to make.

Close.
quote:

“The fair market value is the price at which the property would change hands between a willing buyer and a willing seller, neither being under any compulsion to buy or to sell and both having reasonable knowledge of relevant facts.”
There is an interesting question in Trump's case. Let's say that clan Saud did indeed make an offer to purchase a property for 4x what any other potential buyer was offering. The question becomes whether that offer is purely for the property or instead is (at least partly) for purchasing influence.

The corollary question is whether that matters. If the Saudis were willing to pay extra, does it really matter for purposes of a balance sheet given that they were still willing to pay it? IF a bank said "liquidate and pay us next week," does it really matter why Trump was able to sell for extra, so long as he was able to do so. Is it actually a misrepresentation of the value, if Trump knew that there was indeed a bona fide offer "out there?"
