re: Why is there a LGBT pride month?

You realize that 90% do not have any idea what you are talking about. Given their views of homosexuals, they won’t look it up, either.

What are they so proud about?...

And now they're teaching children the wonders of mutilating their genitals

As a small example, you can walk down the street holding hands with your partner in any small town in this country (assuming any woman will have you ... a questionable assumption). A gay or lesbian couple cannot say the same.
But how is that a violation of their rights? In other words, they may feel they’re being treated differently because they’re assuming assumptions are being made...but how are they really being harmed?
Come on “counselor”. Dazzle me.

I mean probably why there is a month for almost everyone.
Just ignore it if you’re not interested

To paraphrase myself yet again, I SAID that they just want to be treated like anyone else.
I don’t think that is much to ask of people who insist so vociferously that they really, really do not care that someone is gay.

It gets harder and harder to ignore when every other company is doing ads promoting it, and covering their products in rainbow colors.
Would you like it if every other company was putting tiny crosses on all their products and proclaiming it Christian Pride month?

A lot of young people might not realize this, but before Trump became President and set up the camps, gays were allowed to live among us. You would see them sashaying about town, dressed flamboyantly, listening to Streisand and Manilow music. It was crazy.

The only thing we should memorialize is Confederate History, right
Huh?
My point is simple. When you start segmenting off different groups for special recognition you pretty much Doom yourself having to do it forever for any new group that shows up asking for it. When you combine that reality with the absurd fact that there are a couple of groups that are off-limits from such things and you basically institutionalize discrimination which is precisely the thing all of these groups claim to be against

And if you hadn’t conveniently disregarded the first 3/4 of my original post that you responded to, you’d know that we’re actually in agreement on that.
At least I’m guessing it was an intentional disregard. Otherwise, I’m forced to think that you have a reading comprehension problem...not a good quality in an attorney.

Which like with most of these liberal protected groups is demonstrably false.
In fact very act of demanding legislation that makes you a protected group is counter to the idea that you want to be treated like everyone else

Can you name a city where it's illegal to hold hands in public with whoever you want? What does this even mean?

What world do you live in?
Accusing me of creating a monolith? You're the one complicit in tacking letters onto the gay pride movement.
Gays used to just want to be accepted and marry whoever they want. Their movement has been hijacked by rabid social justice warriors and it really sucks for them.

My personal experience with gay and lesbian friends is that your assertion is utter bullshite. Most could not care less whether you “celebrate” or not.

My comment was a reference to a friend and his partner who were recently harassed (for being gay) walking down the street in a mid-size Texas town.

Why don’t YOU reread my post and point out where I said ALL gays and lesbians demand that? I’m not responsible for YOUR interpretation of what I said.
BTW, I do have gay friends. The solid majority of them agree with me and are actually embarrassed by the gays and lesbians who ARE militant about their sexuality.

So in your opinion there are some tiny small towns somewhere in America where gays have full equal rights but sometimes get weird looks when showing public displays of affection and so we must by necessity have a national month long bizarre ritualistic festival celebrating homosexuality?
That makes sense to you?

Then why don’t you explain exactly what you mean?
You said that I can walk down the street holding hands with the partner of my choice. Gays and lesbians don’t have that freedom.
Why not? Because they’re afraid of how it will be perceived? Because if that’s so, then the problem lies with them. I can’t be held responsible for what people THINK I think of them.
