Yeahhhh. Even the Germans, in a WC semifinal game vs another powerhouse team (in name at least) Brazil agreed to tone down their celebrations in the 7-1 shellacking in the 2014 WC.

quote:

In a post-match statement, Mats Hummels said that the German team had decided that they did not want to humiliate the Brazilians during the second half and after the match. Accordingly, the Germans cut theatrics from their goal celebrations; arms were raised but there was no jumping or screaming after scoring.

I didn't watch the women's match yesterday, and celebrating a first ever goal is one thing, but if they were doing a lot of over the top celebrating on goals 5 and up come on, act like you've been there before. Run up the score all you want in group play, there's goal differential at play, but be professional about it.

The Rest of PT: "The US is the greatest country in the world! Merica! We need to crush all others!"

Women's Soccer Thread: "How dare they run up the score and celebrate?"

People like you don't even pretend to have any consistency, except in who you hate.

If any team deserved to get clowned on, it's the fricking Brazilians tbh.

Stand for the flag, yes.

Support the president: One of the most basic ideals about being an American, is that we aren't forced to support any one person, regardless of their position.

This was the celebration for goal #9.

LINK

I wouldn't even say that was the worst of the late game celebrations. Its just not called for when you're up 9-0.

There is a large debate across the world about whether their behavior was classless. It's not just the PT board.

Other than the pink haired dyke, go USA.

Shocked I tell you. Shocked.
I guess celebrations don’t bother me, win or lose. It didn’t bother me, unlike many other Buckeye fans, when Baker planted the flag at midfield in the Shoe. And I didn’t pretend, like other Cleveland fans, that the Decision TV Special was the reason to get upset, rather than losing one of the greatest basketball players of all time. I think it’s stupid when people get upset over things like bat flips after a home run in baseball.

So while I would probably find the soccer celebrations corny, they probably wouldn’t bother me, and to the extent that they would, it wouldn’t much matter whether it was the goal 1 or goal 13.

Way to fail at grasping what people are saying.

But it's not, it's professional level and sometimes getting your arse handed to you by someone excited to do it is just fricking part of it. If someone is bothered by their opponent cheering about their win then they shouln't be competing at that level.

This board CONSTANTLY complains about "snowflake millennials". As well as, participation ribbons, etc.

Most of the players are millennials. They go out and dominate an opponent. And this board is upset that they dare celebrate that domination?

This is bizarro world.

If I remember correctly, very similar to the celebration for goal #8. Weird that you're interested though.

That’s it? I was expecting some orchestrated moment, like when NFL players do the team camera shot. It wasn’t even close to that level of goofiness.

I hope some other country fields a team full of trannies and runs the score up on these dykes.

The world is full of snowflakes who hate Americans. That's ok.

If the Men's team ever gets back to a World Cup and someone beats them 13-0, I'm not going to complain about the score or the celebrations. I'm going to complain about WTF are we doing to give up 13 goals.

Please go and watch the rest of the celebrations first. Your normal shtick of not actually having any reference to what you are trying to debate is old.

Is Julie Foudy a snowflake who hates Americans?

Again, i've yet to see anyone really complaining about the score. The nature of the late game celebrations, were poor sportsmanship plain and simple. Saying otherwise is just folly.

No one is complaining about them running up the score, dumbass. They are complaining about unsportsmanlike behavior.

quote:

Is anyone hating on a specific person, you goon? It's the unsportsmanlike attitude. Listen, you never played sports, or won at anything so maybe this is new territory for you. But when you are beating an inferior opponent badly, you don't rub it in their face with over the top celebrations. You show some integrity. Something, you apparently don't have.

And also, not sure if you forgot, but the celebrations have been seen as negative pretty much unanimously, except for the regressives on the board who cheer the women's soccer team because they are ORANGE MAN BAD.

Most of you weren’t good enough to play sports and just don’t understand. Shouldn’t make you mad or cry about it.
