What? It wasn’t until people mentioned Trump in this thread that I had even connected the match and Trump at all.

Trump is the ONLY reason anyone is defending it.

If the players hadn't been vocal haters of Trump, people would just have seen it for the stupidity it was same as if a team danced on the graves of "Rent a Win U"

If you are complaining about the celebrations, you are also complaining about running up the score. Dumbass. You don't like those celebrations? Stop the scoring.

Is anyone hating on a specific person, you goon?

You and I both know the anger on this board is because some of the team players don't like Trump, kneel, etc.

quote:

Listen, you never played sports, or won at anything so maybe this is new territory for you.

I had a room full of 1st place trophies and plaques when I was a kid, but ok.

But when you are beating an inferior opponent badly, you don't rub it in their face with over the top celebrations. You show some integrity. Something, you apparently don't have.

Not at a professional level. Don't like it? Stop them.

quote:

And also, not sure if you forgot, but the celebrations have been seen as negative pretty much unanimously, except for the regressives on the board who cheer the women's soccer team because they are ORANGE MAN BAD

I cheer for the women's soccer team because Merica!!! Anytime an American team does well, I'm happy.

you all are not cheering for an American team because god forbid a few of them don't like Trump.

News flash, I don't care who athletes support or don't support politically. It's weird that some of you do.

Is this about running up the score or over celebration after each goal?

As other have said, there is a benefit for scoring as many goals as possible.

watched some of the college softball and it's hilarious how when they get, say, a ground out, the whole team gathers together and cheers

Celebrating is now wrong?

WTF? Snowflakes everywhere today.

In what universe has that EVER been the standard in sport?
My personal universe I guess. Like I said, I don't get bothered by celebrations, especially when they aren't specifically taunting the opponent. Even then, they don't bother me. I don't blame Baker for planting that flag. OSU should have beat them if we didn't want that to happen.

One can run up the score because it's necessary and still handle all else the same as if you beat Sam Houston 70-0
Fine. But this is at least the World Cup, and unlike football, even those blowout points matter at this stage.

I just think that if a celebration is classless, it's classless whenever it occurs.

Which is why most people in America hate soccer

then just come out and say that.

This has nothing to do with celebrations, it has to do with the fact that so man on the PT don't like soccer, and don't like athletes who dare talk bad about the president.

It is about the over the top celebrations when they are already up 8+ goals.

They could have won 30-0 for all I care. If you can score, score. When you're blowing someone out though, tone down your celebrations. It is generally understood good sportsmanship to do so.

None of them would make a mens over 30 league team. They lack the physicality.

No, it’s about sportsmanship. How long do we have to say this before you retards understand what we are saying? Keep up, junior.

Power Five conference team beating Sam Houston 70-0 is vastly different than a World Cup game.

So, what is and is not good sportsmanship is determined by the stage something is being played on?

I'm defending it, and Trump was not even on my mind at all. In fact, even after someone reminded me of some previous comments by a couple of the players, I'm still having a hard time caring about this because of Trump whatsoever.

Then again, I don't care that Nick Bosa was/is MAGA, and I don't care that a bunch of other players probably hate Trump. I just want my teams to win, regardless of the political preferences of the players.

If after the 12th goal, one of the players would have run up to the opposing coach and gave them the old crotch grab signal, then maybe I could see the point. Maybe.

But just celebrating your own success is now wrong? I mean, this is truly insane.

Or by the "stage" of a game itself? I guess we're both kind of justifying our positions by incorporating the standards that fit our argument and ignoring the one's that don't.

You are slow today, Auburn Fan.

Sam Houston losing 70-0 would not be a surprise.

A world cup team losing 13-0 is a huge surprise.

When a result is that shocking and unexpected, I have no problem with celebrating your unexpected successes.
