Why is the roundabout in Gonzales at the Tanger outlet mall taking so long to complete?

Please tell me why it takes so long to build a road in South Louisiana….. the response from the highway department is so pathetic

Longer it takes the more money that can be squeezed

They discovered ancient ruins underneath.

Kinda hard to build around constant traffic and not being able to close off half the road at a time.

Well, because mountains come out of the sky and they stand there. It's slowing down progress.

Politicians gotta get their fees before they allow anything.

What would you do to make it better?

Some council members' brother in law needs to get paid.

I will never say I understand the way these kind of contracts work.
In August 2025 I had some work in that area for a while and for almost two months I don’t think they did any work on the stretch just past the mall.
I’m assuming a funding issue came up that shut them down.

It's way easier and faster to build a project in a green field closed off to the public with no demolition or relocation of existing utilities and infrastructure. When you gotta hopscotch around, keep the utilities and traffic lanes operational, selectively demo and replace little chunks here and there at a time, it's slow and expensive work.

Is that why it is taking longer to pressure wash the state capitol building than it took to build the damn thing?

I get that a project like this is slow, I just don’t understand why they shut it down completely last August for almost two months.
