This is an issue that you could take several courses on. I agree. While I see the value in not having to have null congressional authority in specific situations....I sure would like the constitutionality of the War Powers Act to be tested. I REALLY would like I see it contested when even the powers of the WPA are violated.

If you don't think our current President has complete and utter disdain for this country, then I can't help you. Sorry.
Fall in line, like you always do.

Civilian control of the military is one of the tenets of a free society.

Subjective (and completely histrionic) statement is subjective.

My statement about the Founding Fathers and a Colored President still stands.

To be fair. Boozie has been pretty critical of the terrorist swap.

He is still a dirty hippie, though.

It's pretty obvious the facts of how he has governed speak for themselves.

Established when most presidents came from military backgrounds? Um it was established when none did. There had never been a president.

Why would someone who has complete and utter disdain for a country want to be the president of that country?

Now he may feel that way of the country you think this is as do I. Thankfully the US is not what we once were and have moved along.

Um...it works so far.
So in your mind the military should do what they want despite who's Prez?
Or are you saying the Prez can only be from the military?
Or are you suggesting the military runs the show?

Why would someone who hates his country want to be president? I have wondered about the logic. How can someone who hates the USA go through the process of getting elected president via our constitution?

What you are saying makes no sense. Someone who hates our country would not want to be president.

The notion of commander-in-chief was established back when most presidents came from military backgrounds. Now that this is no longer the case, why do we still give the president so much military power?

The beauty of the Red Army and the People's Liberation Army was that they were under party control which meant the people.

That was a superior method of organizing the defense of a country. Have the military answer to the people via the party.

Would a communist run for president?

I'm am by no means saying Obama is a communist. Given your post history...though...a communist should be president...right?

I assume you have a thought as to what happens when the country no longer needs defending?

Unless that person wanted to fundamentally change our country.

When many people state their issues with constitution and guns in modern society, others bitch and moan. Its the constitution, for better or worse.

If anything gets changed, the presidents role as commander in chief is not near top of list i dont think

Military decisions need to come down to one man and we still need a civillian to maintain control of the military to prevent a coup and behold them to the citizens of this country.
