Nope. Cruz was a right wing conservative before Trump was. He was head of the student conservatives at Harvard and that's a tough place to be right wing.
During the primary debates they got along better than any two candidates until the end. Cruz got pissed for Trump picking on his wife.
After the election he got over it and supported Trump's initiatives.
If Trump or DeSantis become President I think Cruz would be an excellent pick for Supreme Court.

I understand Cruz was considered a Reagan style conservative but that isn’t the same as MAGA/America First…..Trump owns the current America First/conservative populist movement….Cruz and Levin jumped on the bandwagon.

I don't know about Levin but Cruz has never changed his America first attitude or style. The guy who really has copied from Trump is DeSantis. Trump emboldened him to adopt a 'frick you' attitude toward the press.
It's Trump that changed in the long term. He was a democrat.
