All the Nazis moved across the river to Bossier 20 years ago and took their tax money with them. And they're still coming. It's the fastest growing Parish in La.
No crime, good schools, lots of jobs, nice new upscale neighborhoods. Hell, we've got 4 Starbucks on Airline Drive

Shreveport has the second nicest old in town neighborhoods in the state (after New Orleans) and a great interstate infrastructure. The old Highlands area is so much more substantially nice than anything in Baton Rouge. Sad it seems to be going down so. Suburban Bossier is so drab generally. I know you have waterfront property, though.

White flight. Then the remaining residents vote in “their” candidates and the downward spiral begins.

Most major cities in the U.S are ran by Democrats. The really shitty ones are led by those who appeal to the dysfunctional

and New Orleans the next. It’s always been a shithole.

Why would they wanna be like N.O.?

Not exactly a city you wanna emulate except for their restaurants.

Why are you of the opinion that Shreveport is "dying"? It's an important city for this state. It's hard for me to believe that it's dying, but, then again, I don't live there.

Touche. It's got many gambling facilities (never goes out of style amirite?), LSU-S and Centenary, a huge Air Force Base across the river, and of course oil/gas including not-so-distant-in-past Haynesville Shale boom. But as another poster mentioned, "because Louisiana" in the long run I guess.

ETA Also has a rather substantial health care industry, i.e. hospitals and clinics. LSU-S Health Center included which I believe hosts many a resident physician.

The old Highlands is a drug infested high crime area. There is no place in Shreveport that isn't a crime area.
Suburban Bossier is not what's so great. It's ex-burb Bossier. People in South Bossier, Haughton, Benton can get a large lot (without waterfront) for cheap and have an easy commute to work in Bossier City or Shreveport.
The key is no crime.

It's La., depending on rainfall everyone has waterfront property at one time or another.

Very. Seems to me the downturn started when the gangs started moving in the early to mid 80's. It was one of the more dangerous places in the USA, no company wanted to locate there. People fled the core and moved to the South of town and to Bossier.

This isn't unique to Shreveport. I'm old enough to remember when much of NBR was decent. It's a warzone now.

Yeah I don't get how anyone from here can say it's not dying with a straight face. Bossier is building a cyber security base that's drawing in actual big business like General Dynamics, with hundreds of high paying jobs and a feeder program at BPCC to make sure we're filling them with locals when possible. Shreveport has drawn what? Elio Motors? LOL!

Shreveport is a dumpster fire. And that's from somebody that was born and raised there and did what everyone else with a brain has done and moved to Benton.

You better not be the guy in the pickup who drives so slow before pulling into Country Corner store.

I grew up in the Broadmoor area in the 60's/70's and it was the same then. But back then everyone pretty much understood Cooper Rd, Bottoms/Allendale, Moorestown, Stoner Hill and parts of the Grove south of 70th were no go zones

George D'Artois was a worthless piece of shite, but he kept a lid on things.

Awful leadership.

Land Rover wanted the GM plant and Shreveport turned them down because they were all in on a snake oil salesman grifter that was gonna use the plant to make motorcycle cars.

When there's more free-loaders on the wagon than there are workers pulling the wagon...duh! The problem with socialism is at some point they run out of other folk's money to steal & spend. The problem with Capitalism is too many successful folks are greedy and think if they somehow gouge a little more out of others that they will somehow beat death. Everyday I quote Shakespeare to myself,"Out out brief candle.Live is but a walking shadow, a poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the stage and is heard of no more. It's the tale told be an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing"

Bossier has the benefit of getting a lot of the good stuff that flees Shreveport. It’s been that way since the 90’s.

But it’s not like Bossier is some thriving metropolis. The city’s fates are tied.

It has the highest obesity rate in the country, so it’s quite literally dying.
