They are hoping to spread as much misery, poverty, and desperation as possible and hoping that people, with reinforcement messaging and propaganda from the Democrat media, will blame Trump.

No, I misread it as "Trump walked into it", skipped the "them". So to me it's foolish, they walked him into it to let him hang himself is actually what happened.
