Why is India not a Star Trek utopia if they have millions of the world’s most brilliant engineers, computer programmers, and scientists?
1.Must be British colonialism.
2. Their brilliance is only activated on the magical soil of America.

Cause they mostly suck even when building good resumes.
The number of brilliant ones are few compared to east Asians.
I suspect the younger generation cheats their way through university. I remember study groups of Indian kids where maybe 10% knew what they were doing.
The older generation has some damn good engineers. But the majority of Indian engineers under 50 are a lot of talk and hype.
All the good ones have degrees from India, then came here where they got another degree.
The ones who only got a degree here are a joke

Up until the mid 1970s the highest achieving people from Germany and all parts of the European/Asian world immigrated to the US for a better opportunity. Around the mid 1970s is when Central Americans started coming for the same reasons, but for the past 15 years we are getting all the garbage.

Their average IQ on the Indian subcontinent is 76.
Put that in perspective: the US military won’t take anyone with an IQ under 83 because they’d be useless - a net drain on resources.
India has a shitload of idiots. They also have a shitload of people, and due to their large sample size, they will still produce a relatively large about of high IQ smart people that we can entice to come here and help our economy.
High IQ is highly correlated to wealth and success. The inverse is also true.

3. They aren’t all Vivek level
It’s an absolute falsehood that some believe they have better workers and minds on average than Americans doing American work. Anyone that has spent time around Indians knows this: ones raised in America are mostly efficient and very good, ones that work on teams from India are the worst workers as far as skill. Companies love them because they are cheap labor, they miss the reduction of quality. It’s essentially the new made in China.
I don’t think this is much different than any immigrant class, the first few generations here are driven and smart but eventually they lose their edge. It’s pretty much the hard times create good men, good men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men great hard times cycle just with immigrant cultures.
You also have the issue of once one gets high enough and has hiring choices they are going to choose Indian every time. People blame white guys for creating fraternity type work cultures but they absolutely ignore that any minority that starts to hire will always hire those that look like them. White men are probably the most likely to ignore race and gender and hire who they believe to be the best.

They have a billion people. Even if they had more rich people than the US has total population, they would still have almost twice as many of whatever the rest is.

This helps them as well, the number game favors having some that stick out. The real meat of it is companies like them because they are extremely cheap labor. They also like they get to tell the stupid lie of it allows us a follow the sun work model.

Looking at the tech industry here in the states, many Indians were instrumental in their development......and the 100s of thousands of jobs they created.
Do you think the US would be better served if these individuals stayed in India and developed those companies there?

Temu engineers generally suck. They should have to pass the state professional engineer exam to work as an “engineer”. I bet 90% are not competent enough to pass the PE exam. Companies don’t care because they need the bodies and will worry about quality later.

Because for most of their history they had a caste system and monarch rule
They have always had a society of brilliant and hard working people but their primary faith is the only in the world that is non conversional and they actually live that faith and the same can not be said for Americans who say they are Christians but clearly do not observe their faith.

It’s not that they have millions of the world’s most brilliant engineers, but surely out of a couple billion people they have a lot of them. It’s that they actually get educated in subjects that help them succeed. Not only that they are far less lazy than most American kids, I’m not sure how anyone can debate that. They are more motivated. And they work their asses off.

My team has American-raised/educated Indians (all local) and they kick arse.
