Two things.
- he would just be a punching bag for at least 3 of the others. Cristy is in the race solely to give the media a “hero” to quote and worship on their 24/7 coverage of his attacks on Trump. asa is just there as another sub while Cristy catches his breath. But he’ll also get super media exposure for all his “narrative”.
- all the criminal trials are a real trap. Regardless of what he says they can use it to support “puffery” charges. And it is the trial itself that is criminal. The charges they are bringing are wild stretches based on novel interpretations of unrelated “law”

Wait...are you saying the primary campaign season hasn't started yet? Guess you need to tell everyone running and campaigning.

Yeah, it's not hard to imagine Fat Boy, whose sole purpose is to get revenge on Trump, and who I wish would go buffalo hunting with Dick Cheney, saying something that forces Trump to either respond with something that would be used against him in court, or with "On advice from my attorneys I decline to respond."

Because he’s been a gaffe machine lately.
He’s running a Biden style campaign.

He is not afraid of the debate. Probably afraid one of your friends will assassinate him.

Agreed, and notably, every single response here has not tried to address any of the questions posed by the editorial, just a bunch of canned echoes with no substance.
Correct. They are all responses to the question posed in the title of the thread. If you wanted the elements of the article addressed and not just an answer to the question in the title, change the title.

Trump lost in 2020 due to suburban white men.
You think the 2020 election was legitimate?

He gains nothing by debating a stage full of losers.

He’s basically the republican Joe Biden at this point

The public is understandably worried about the visible decline of Mr. Biden, who is 80 years old and would be 86 at the end of a second term. Yet Mr. Trump would be 82 at the end of his second term in 2029, and he isn’t exactly in shape to set records at the YMCA senior triathlon. Do the concerns about age not apply to him?

I'm saying your analogy doesn't make sense. Trump isn't ahead in the 4th quarter taking a knee. Not a single person has voted yet. Every single person polled still has the option to vote for someone else.

Fear isn't in any part the calculation.
The only question is whether or not a strategic advantage comes from debating.
Such a simple concept and so baffling why some can't grasp this.

Trump's not even my guy and I think this is smart. It clearly didn't hurt him. Why should he let the neocon dummies orchestrate a hit on him and spend three hours tearing him apart?

Why Is Donald Trump Afraid to Debate?
Donald is above debating these 14% and lower polling dipshits. The reality is that these scabs NEED him to debate but he has no reason to.
It's time to end this fricking charade. Y'all getting on the Trump bus or what? Let's go win an election.

Trump is dying. He is mentally fading away. That's the real answer, and it's sad.

He tends to not debate well. His schtick is speaking to the clapping seals at rallies about whatever.

I love that you post this as if this is a shot at DeSantis and not a perfect example of why some of us prefer him over Trump.
One photo shows a guys talking like a person and women listening to his answer, the other shows a guy having his wife fondled by a politician while everyone stands around and cheers.
It's a perfect illustration of where we are...

If you have to ask that question, there's no sense in explaining it to you...you won't get it! Either that, or you ask it with the intention of making our next President of the United States look scared.
Whatever, dude or dudette...GO TRUMP!

Trump’s “platform” is revenge and keeping his arse out of jail.
