Russia is corrupt to the core
Military leadership and Defense contractors are corrupt
Leaders can't lead the their shite don't work. It's made of counterfeit parts and breakdown due to poor workmanship

You mean the way this guy's military used overwhelming force and rapidly seized territory while Saddam Hussein's disbanded?

Russia hasn't made all the right decisions or performed flawlessly. But the obvious strategy has been to avoid having to occupy a lot of territory (outside of heavily ethnically Russian areas) and to try to pin down and destroy Ukrainian forces.

so again, die a bunch now to avoid dying a lot later in an insurgency? You can't believe this.

Les Miles football doctrine and Russia's military doctrine are the same. No real air attack.

Who tells you shite like this and why do you believe it? You fell for the Ghost of Kiev, didn't you?

pretty much every country's estimate of Russian losses in Ukraine besides Russia's own figure about 180k total casualties, something north of 60k deaths. You can go on oryx and see just photographically confirmed equipment losses, so the very base level that it could be, is 9001 vehicles including the following types: 1671 tanks, afvs 772, ifvs 1999, apcs 295, mraps 44, imvs 176, command and communication vehicles 225, engineering vehicles 268, 92 artillery support vehicles, towed artillery 164, self propelled artillery 330, mlrs 171, 39 aa guns, 92 sam systems, 21 radars, 22 em jammers, 69 fixed wing aircraft, 75 helicopters, 12 naval ships, 2257 trucks

And most of this is from the offensives where Ukraine pushed Russia out of areas and could photograph the equipment. Now the the lines have stagnated the losses have must likely increased without being documented. The true numbers are probably higher. And after all that, Russia is in control of areas that they were broadly already in control of via separatists, and have had to mobilize 300k new troops, to not much result.

Can you imagine even the diminished us military taking more than a month or two to completely bring a country like Ukraine to it's knees, even if someone like Russia was helping them? We would have gotten total air superiority within a week max. Russia still doesn't have it.

That's Russia for you. Not only are those Slavs shitty at fighting, they're physically unable to perform well or even make the right decisions due to how they've structured their entire military.

Russia's military doesn't have the expertise, structure, or equipment to win this war. This Russia-Ukraine conflict will be another Afghanistan for them. They're hoping that Ukraine will eventually run out of bodies before they do (that's literally been their strategy in every major war they've been involved in), but I doubt that happens. They'll be in this for a few years until they tire themselves out. They'll pull out and claim they achieved their "objectives" while the US sinks more money in rebuilding that Ukrainian shite hole.

I know Orc's aren't capable of taking a third of Ukraine while up against billions $$ or the most sophiscated arms on earth. Me thinks Orc's might be pushed back into Moscow by now, right?

They want to go out on their own terms. Russia only has a few decades left as a country, they either get destroyed by NATO or they die slowly from an aging population and low birth rates. They prefer the latter.

Sounds a lot like WW2 psychologic conditioning of the plebes via, demonizing and making the opponent appear as subhuman is having the desired affects.

What is their goal?

To subdue the government and people of Ukraine and install a puppet regime.

I am unsure the complexity of this. They have an overwhelming army. If they want Ukraine why don't they just take it?

They are trying... and the got close... on day one. They had brief control of the Kiev airport. However, they counter attacked pushed them out and the Russians weren't able to land their huge troop/equipment carrying planes in the middle of the country.

Because of that they've had to move slowly with convoys from Belarus and through Crimea. Those convoys are getting destroyed by militias and the resistance that Ukraine has.

Russia also had(has) a very overrated Air Force. They have no Gen5 aircraft in service, even though they have the tech for it. The other aircraft has been blistered by the Stingers mostly provided by US (and NATO) and movable missile batteries.

So to answer your question, its because Russia may be the #2 or #3 military in the world, but they are poorly led and decaying. It's showing to the world.

I mean... at the top yes... as much as the American Military is led by Biden

Their equipment is in such as state because their economy is junk (led by Putin) and the corruption among the people outfitting them (They pocket money).

But beyond that, they still should have been able to slice into Ukraine quickly. They advantage the US had over Iraq in both invasions are comparable, and we had no trouble. They have terrible combined arms strategy. Their intelligence shortcoming mad them believe they would be met with little resistance, which was obviously, false.
