Landry is turning out to be pretty horrible but not surprising.
Any time a politician refuses to participate in debates against opponents, he or she should be automatically disqualified from being able to participate in the race.
Presenting your ideas in a coherent, defensible manner is the absolute minimum we should require from all politicians. The minute Landry declined the debates I knew he’d be terrible. He’s a blue dog Democrat that changed affiliation to trick the LA populace that doesn’t look past the R next to his name to see just how stupid/politically corrupt his policies are

I keep voting Republican in this State and they consistently disappoint.
Our Gen X and Boomer “Republicans” were socially conservative Democrats 20-30 years ago. They voted for Bill Clinton and Mary Landreau and would gladly do so again. They don’t want limited government and economic freedom. They want to tax the shite out of everything, govern morality, and act like being pro-life, pro-hunting, and pro-O&G makes them conservatives or Republicans.

Because of the populace. Louisiana is by and large a steaming heap of garbage.

Very well said. In this state, Republicans and Dems are your typical tax and spend politicians. They are both in bed with the billboard lawyers. There's really not much difference.

Old Jeff has a few more trial lawyer buddies he needs to repay. This state has 5,000 things he can focus on fixing. Take your pick. The current levee board system is one of the few things we have working properly.

Get rid of the bridge police, the levee police, and trim 1/2 the staff at the causeway commission.

Shane Guidry, the governor's close adviser and self-styled Elon Musk of Louisiana,
"Self-styled" means he calls himself that. Is there an actual quote where he said that?
That's either completely cringe, or a lie by the author of this article.

Really? Anyone who paid attention predicted this. Many of us tried to warn y’all. We get what we deserve.

Landry will turn out to be one of our worst. Oh and good thing he decided to nestle nice and deep in the personal injury attorney's pockets so our insurance rates will continue to climb 2x the national average.

Dug in a bit on this and its pretty wild, the Governor through a Guidry want the authority to appoint whoever he wants and ignore the non-partisan, expert nominating committee, which ensures candidates meet essential requirements in flood control, engineering, and related fields.
This is insane considering the hard-won governance reforms that were implemented after Hurricane Katrina. The SLFPA-E model has since become a global example of effective governance and a key part of New Orleans’ recovery story.
Rolling back these reforms threatens the safety of New Orleans, the integrity of our flood protection infrastructure and possibly the long-term future of the city.

Last year, the nominating process yielded Norma Jean Mattei, another president of the American Society of Civil Engineers, but the governor rejected her without giving a reason.
Ooooof. That's an awful look. Dr Mattei is a national leader within the civil engineering world and a former dean of UNO's engineering school. I am curious what brain trust deemed her unqualified?

Huh? I'm a Gen X republican. I never voted for Bill Clinton and I sure as hell never voted for any Landrieu. And I sure as hell wouldn't vote for them now. And I loathe taxes of any sort. Your hatred is blinding you to reality.
Landry seems to be trying to ensure no republican ever wins again in this state. I'm not sure if he only had the (R) by his name in an effort to win elections, but he is by far turning out to be the most disappointing governor. And I thought Jindal set the bar for that one in his second term.

I'd think you have more pressing threats to NOLA and it's future, wouldn't you? Yes you might get flooded out, but I'd be more concerned with your local leadership than clutching pearls over the levee board.

Landry and Latoya are running neck and neck for stupidity at the moment, both supported by no shortage of idiot voters.
