read your history books a bit and you will find it was a great American General born raised died and buried in Goliad Texas, that lead the Mexicans to victory over the French intruders. General Zaragoza

Most people(in the U.S.) don’t even know what the holiday signifies.

I'm aware of the history. I've been to Goliad many times.

I just don't understand why we say it in Spanish. We should just be saying the "5th of May" like we say the 4th of July.

Too much of America really works too damn hard to find something to complain about.

I’m a Texan. I don’t hate Mexico. I do hate what has happened to it, but the people and Texas have a lot of shared heritage. I can appreciate what the day means for them and join in on the fun.

You go yell at your clouds and just let this one go right on by.

The real answer is we need something to do between "May the Fourth be with you" and "Revenge of the Sixrh".

If celebrating Cinco de Mayo is eating some Mexican food with my family, that just sounds like another Tuesday to me. taco Tuesday. Has a ring to it.

Get everyone in a big pile. Makes it easier for ICE to round them up. Economies of scale, if you will.

No complaint from me about the celebration. I do find it interesting that the celebration is for a single battle won in a war ultimately lost to the French.

Contrast this with Texas, that venerates a battle lost in a war ultimately won over Mexico.

For commercial profit.

I bet when you pass your local Mexican restaurant today, it will be packed with people feeding their fat faces and drinking margaritas.

Sometimes we like to have a reason to drink margaritas on a Tuesday.
